That's what my tattoo is on my right forearm. But... remember... I do already have the awesomeness of the Colossus figure in 3D. Perhaps BOTH?? BOTH. This guy is $30 on FleaBay - lots of other much more expensive: "Mack Truck NOS factory chrome bulldog side emblem #4MR2157 w/mounting pins"

The one in the pic above is for the SIDE of the hood. Flat on one side.

I knew I needed a spacer 4 or more inches thick to make room for the 30" rear tires. 30 - 23 (stock) = 7" diameter increase. Cut that in half for the one side of the tire to clear the steps. 3.5" additional space from frame to transmission. I figured minimum 4" with more being better. I really wanted it to be the full width and height of the WH frame. Just shy of 7".... so we were gonna have to make it. Our friend who's a truck fabricator was watching for a chunk and found a piece of 7" square tubing. I'd never heard of that size! Well, they capped one end and put the cap you see with the hole in it so I could get the bolts in. I was gonna mount that side facing down but someone here suggested it would be a great glove or other stuff holdererer. Excellent idea!! 5

The Freightliner Guy 1,327 #1886 Posted January 10 eric what i was thinking for the hood of colossus is maybe two rusted or non rusted c series hood like 160 or 101 style hood. and you cut the tapered parts off on both of them and weld them together. i think that may be interesting

Haven't figured out what I'm going to do on that and probably won't until the moment I start to build the hood. Everything on this tractor is freshly painted so it wouldn't be rusty. I'm not real great with producing shiny smooth paint but I could easily incorporate a row of rivets on a lap joint and still very much keep with the theme. The back of the hood, by the steering wheel would still be attached in the regular way to the original steering tower above where the gas tank would sit. The front of course, would need to be lined up to the very large Kohler generator grill that's a few pictures back. In between that there will be a massive air cleaner built on to the top of the engine and I have to account for the exhaust as well. It's entirely possible that it would be easier for me to enlist the help of a fabricator friend and build a whole hood from a fresh piece of sheet metal. I have extremely limited experience with fabrication of metals but that would be a good learning experiment.
Lee1977 6,662 #1888 Posted January 10 I would use that same shape of Kohler grill for the hood at the back then tie into the original hood in line with the original gas tank support. make the hood section come off like a GT-14. You will have a vertical piece at that point, but I think it would still look good.

I have no real plans for a steering shaft set-up. I certainly could raise the back WH section to match the front Kohler piece. Then put a U-joint in the steering shaft like @Greentored Scott did on his flywheel tractor build. I know the Kohler grill is about 4" or 5" wider than the Wheelhorse part at the back. Hood angling out in a slight V would be easy enough. Definitely like the idea to keep the hood removable.
