The Paint Department and I did more cleaning and she sent some paint onto the big twin K582 Kohler engine block.

I’ve been thinking of doing something like this but only with a Diesel engine. Make a puller out of it. 😂

To an extent that's exactly what it'll be. 

A puller... Of heavy stuff.  

Mostly firewood. And the monster splitter. 

Also gravel, stone etc.

Been eyeballing a buddy of mines Lombardini diesel motor. Single cylinder, never used, complete with wiring harness. Rated at 11hp.

From what I've heard about those you'd be well off to nab it if possible. Seems to be a very good engine.

Was scrolling back thru some of the ..... several? pics this am with my cupa and saw the starter laying aside seemingly without any attention to it yet.

A strong suggestion -- go into that thing for a ck before assembly. To get back to it is a real pain... all the way down to pulling the flywheel!! 

 

Hmmm.... wonder if maybe you could use that "kick in the butt" we covered a few posts ago?  No, not BBT, she definitely DOESNT need that!!

That starter advice is much appreciated.

I had intended to open it up and clean it out at the very least but now that I've found out how much fun it is to get to I'll be a lot more adamant about making sure it's in good shape!

I’m gonna try, he mentioned to me so I think I can get a good deal on it. He originally bought to build a motorcycle out of it but never got around to it. Lombardini makes diesel motors for Kohler.

It's great to be back working on it. 

Really looking forward to seeing the rig as drivable. 

 

I'll not use the word "done" because this one will be a constant work-in-progress depending on what needs to be done vs how things are built and working out.

Most certainly.  

 

This particular build will be an exception to the rules of an unusual sort. 

The BBT and I are well known to try something out for a bit and scrap plans or modify as needed to suit whatever changes.  

 

I'm not currently planning on having any implements or PTO on this rig. 

But...

Some jamoke mumbled FEL near a sentence with Colossus...

Then I got thinking this big heavy Beast would be handy for a generator puller because it won't even know it's there.  

Etc etc etc....

My 867 and Bronco have ended up being the same. The PTO on the Bronco actually was taken off the 867 (even though it didn't come with one), and has since never been used. I don't even have a belly hitch on either of them. They will be used for pulling things. If that is never more than my big behind, that's fine with me.

 

I have a Toro Groundsmaster that I'm thinking of adding an FEL to. It's got the frame and bulk to handle it, and would support the load much better anyway. Someone already did it, and I like it!

 

If you're anything like me (God help you if that's true), my projects tend to radically change during the course of the build. Again, that is part of the fun for me!
