stevasaurus 22,866 #26 Posted September 29, 2019 Those 1533 bearings do not seat all the way down...they just go in far enough to be flush at the top, you have no problem with the seat.. You should try to replace that cluster gear...A-Z Tractors. Take out all gears and shafts and use a wire wheel to clean, then take pictures of the gears and post them on here. On a side note...there is only one 1303 seal. That 2 is a mis-print. In the regular IPL, it only shows one. There is 2 bearings in the case that the input shaft goes into though. The inside one is flush with the case end and the outer one is recessed enough to put the seal in flush.
Elliot Garfinkel 166 #27 Posted September 29, 2019 Thank you so much I will clean, wheel and post.As far as the seal and bearing I was referring to the pully itself. Thanks for the fast response
Elliot Garfinkel 166 #28 Posted September 29, 2019 Ok so couple of things removed gears will clean and post but in removing bearings casing cracked pics enclosed repairable? that's the first thing and this side of case(pto) seems to have a bushing.
stevasaurus 22,866 #29 Posted September 30, 2019 3900 & 3901 are the part numbers for those case halves. Get to A -Z Tractors or the Wanted Adds in the Classifieds and get another case half. I would say that case is not fixable. You can re-use any good bearings that you can get out and get a hold of Lowell (another one of our vendors) for bearings and seals and gasket. How did you manage to break that casting?? Sorry that happened to you. The case half should not be too hard to find.
Elliot Garfinkel 166 #30 Posted September 30, 2019 Thanks going to try a local welder but I'm starting to look for another case .do I need a matching set or just the bad one. How I broke it was I was using a impact socket for the arbor in a press I didnt realize the socket increased in size as it got to the top and as I pressed the socket acted as a wedge and that's my tale of woe. I have all new seals and bearings and will start cleaning the gears before I track down a case hopefully won't need any gears. Thanks again for your support
Elliot Garfinkel 166 #31 Posted September 30, 2019 Cleaned gears hopefully you will be able to make some recommendations. On the input gear do you change the needle bearing or leave well enough alone. The case that i damaged i believe their is a bushing just on that side. stevasaurus 22,866 #32 Posted October 1, 2019 1. You only need to replace the bad case half...keep the good one. 2. All gears look OK from what I can see...except the cluster gear. I would replace that. 3. The 5/8" bearing in the input shaft...if it is OK, I leave it alone. 4. The 3900 case half still has the old bearing race in the axle tube...that is not a bushing. I think you will be OK. That case half is used in a lot of the horses in the 1960's along with the cluster gear. Take pictures as you put it together please. Elliot Garfinkel 166 #33 Posted October 1, 2019 New cases on way so i can take out that old bearing race and use just one half I got a whole case hopefully coming I thought it might be better using matching cases but what do I know As far as the cluster gear a to z doesn't have any and the two I found on line were pretty pricey. Still got time I'm really in no rush I am going to do a k161s total motor job although I'm choking on crank price might just have that machined and pretty much have everything else but pistons .thanks again I'm sure you haven't heard the last of me yet
