The Tuul Crib 7,338 #1 Posted August 30, 2019 So I picked up this Chinese carburetor off of Amazon and went to put it on and swap out the fittings and no way! The gas line inlet is a metric size cannot use the one off of the old carburetor! I'm sure that someone else has run into the same situation and I'm curious what's your fix might be. You would think that these carburetors would come with that particular fitting but Noooooo!
ebinmaine 70,789 #2 Posted August 30, 2019 It's possible you could find an adapter at a Big box Auto parts store. You may be able to get something that is metric threaded on one side and meant to fit like 6 mm hose on the other...

Pullstart 64,587 #5 Posted August 30, 2019 How about a pipe tap Randy? Could you chase in some of your own threads?
The Tuul Crib 7,338 #6 Posted August 30, 2019 Not sure that would work. I have thought about that as well though. I would be worried about cracking the case of a carb Or metal filings getting into places it didn't belong !
bottjernat1 2,190 #7 Posted August 30, 2019 ive made it fit anyways. LOL i used gas line thread tape.
WHNJ701 4,165 #8 Posted August 30, 2019 I don't waste my time with those junk carbs anymore. you get what you pay for. I bought a bunch of old kohler/briggs carbs off ebay and keep them on hand with rebuild kits.

It depends on Dealer. buyed 2 times Chinese Carbs for Monkey type Engines and one for a old Briggs Engine. the carb for the Monkey/Dax Engine come without any Fuelline, the Carb for the Briggs comes with all Attachments. The tubesize was 6mm. but the both purchased by different Dealer. So far i just have good experiences with chinese Carbs. both running from begin til now. rmaynard 15,927 #11 Posted August 30, 2019 I have had excellent results when I buy from an eBay dealer "CFAMILY10". His carbs always have SAE threads and the choke is correct.
The Tuul Crib 7,338 #12 Posted August 30, 2019 The choke is correct on this carburetor but the threads on the inlet are not. Granted it was cheap so maybe I can make a slight adjustment to make it work .

The only real problem has been the ethanol gas of which I feel is getting worse here in Michigan.
clueless 3,111 #14 Posted August 31, 2019 If you have a good hardware than go to the section where they sell small brass or copper tubing connections and fitting and start testing the fittings that's how I found mine. Kinda like the old hard plumbed carb connection. Me and one of the young sales guy spent about 10 minutes try to find something, one of the old guys walk up and said follow me, took about a minute to find one that fits, OLD GUYS ROCK . Not even sure it's metric. I will try to get some pics later today, the carb is on a K181.

I may put the old one back on for now. It's an eight horse that I picked up and I'm trying to just get it running for now. This new carburetor I Purchased a year ago for another project and never did use it and didnt for the reason of the problem im having now.

Yeah it is the original carburetor that came on this motor and it can be rebuilt .I picked this tractor up cheap and haven't had it running yet. So I'm trying not to spend a whole lot right now to find out what the motor does. Not sure if it's smokes or not. Or it knocks or not.

I'll pm you later with an answer. Far better off to clean up the old one.
