Obviously Nancy & I are out of harms way now but our daughter & family are in the target zone and only 20 miles inland. When they said it could hit land as a cat 4 she started crying. Our prayers are with everybody down there. Stay safe my friend.

Prayers for everyone, maintain your faith as GOD says in scripture he can not always take us around the storm, but he can take us through the storm and out the other side.

I’ll be praying for you, my friend, that God will bring you safely through whatever this storm brings with it!  I also will be praying for those other souls in the path of this hurricane.  These can be so devastating and certainly dangerous.

Hopefully it downgrades or changes direction and heads out into open water.

  Fingers crossed 🤞

That would be good. Just hope it doesn't keep heading east. Wet and windy enough over here.

Twenty seven years ago I lived in Homestead, FL when Andrew devastated the area. I pray that the forecasters are incorrect, and if not I pray for the safety of all those affected by this storm. Our son and granddaughter live in the Palm Beach are and my sister in-law lives in St Augustine, FL so we have a couple of specific prayers for safety going up to God.

Our daughter lives in the Tampa area and we are supposed to head down there on Tuesday. I'm hoping this storm heads back out to open water and praying everyone is safe.

All my fellow Florida brethen, both of you :laughing-rolling:, batten down the hatches. Dorian is angry and coming for us. Seriously though, I hope all affected by this storm come through it ok. Stay safe.

Rich, it looks like you peninsula guys are going to get the hell knock out of you. Most of you know the drill, but for my man Zeek, a cat4 is a hell of an initiation :(, stay safe.

You bet it can, I've already got my 90 gallons of propane and heading out this morning for 50 gallons of gas. Got two gens one is gas the other is a duel fuel, gas and propane, a 10,000 btu window AC ready to go, once you spend 13+ day with out electricity in 90+ degree days (done that twice) you learn what you need and have it ready. But if a cat4 is heading up your front door you get it all ready, and get your ass out of there!!

Like Chris said, absolutely. It would lose some steam crossing land but once it hits the gulf it would intensify again looking for the next target. Right now they are predicting for it to come ashore and turn north going up the state. At this point, everything is no more than an educated guess. They are getting better at forecasting but these things don't watch TV and do whatever they want. :hide:

Not a problem yet, it's a small chance that Northwest Fl. will be affected so no lines yet. After 50+ years of dealing with these things you learn when to get you stuff together, gas and water at least 5 day before it's suppose to hit. June get everything you need ready that is not perishable, then when the first one get close to the islands, or lately in the gulf getting you gas and use stabilizer. Then start get water, bread, and other food items. If you do this you will have plenty of time to get ready for it instead of standing in line or driving all over looking for gas, water, and bread.

I will take blizzards and ice storms any time over hurricanes.  The rarely destroy a house and are usually only fatal to stupid people.

Thankfully we dodged the bullet on that one .

:text-imnewhere:  so it was a good dry-run for hurricane prep. I'm still one the fence about window boards . . . some have, most don't. I'm thinking I may precut and store a few for a couple larger windows that are on the wind side of the house in case we get pop-up tornado or whatever during one of these. However, like one news guy said "Hey, except for the couple of hurricanes we have to worry about, the rest of the time it's great! So far I have to agree, headed to a west coast beach for a few days next week for our anniversary that we tabled until the Dorian and Labor Day passed.

I have two generators and about 35 G of gas on hand and a portable AC unit. I reminded my wife the main AC ain't happening. We like hot, but with the current 94'ish temps and high humidity you I think you'd bloat legs up with just a fan.
