I pray that the forecasters are incorrect, and if not I pray for the safety of all those affected by this storm. You bet it can, I've already got my 90 gallons of propane and heading out this morning for 50 gallons of gas. Got two gens one is gas the other is a duel fuel, gas and propane, a 10,000 btu window AC ready to go, once you spend 13+ day with out electricity in 90+ degree days (done that twice) you learn what you need and have it ready. Like Chris said, absolutely. It would lose some steam crossing land but once it hits the gulf it would intensify again looking for the next target. Right now they are predicting for it to come ashore and turn north going up the state. At this point, everything is no more than an educated guess. The 6 "P's" Prior Planing Prevents Piss Poor Performance.... I will take blizzards and ice storms any time over hurricanes. The rarely destroy a house and are usually only fatal to stupid people. I'm still one the fence about window boards . . . some have, most don't. I'm thinking I may precut and store a few for a couple larger windows that are on the wind side of the house in case we get pop-up tornado or whatever during one of these. However, like one news guy said "Hey, except for the couple of hurricanes we have to worry about, the rest of the time it's great! So far I have to agree, headed to a west coast beach for a few days next week for our anniversary that we tabled until the Dorian and Labor Day passed. I reminded my wife the main AC ain't happening. We like hot, but with the current 94'ish temps and high humidity you I think you'd bloat legs up with just a fan.
