flat head 0 #1 Posted August 27, 2019 i have a engine with a broken rod does not appear to have any piston or cylinder wall damage ,how difficult is this to repair
Stepney 2,350 #2 Posted August 27, 2019 If the crank is still OK and there's no other damage, a standard rebuild should have you going again. While it's apart it wouldn't hurt to do the other rod, check the bores, valves, etc..
Bean701 35 #3 Posted August 29, 2019 Check the valves. These motors are...well...junk imo
bds1984 1,466 #4 Posted August 29, 2019 Those engines are far from junk. A large number of them have been installed on cheap mowers that are maintained by cheap owners which gave them a bad reputation.
flat head 0 #5 Posted August 29, 2019 this motor was serviced ,picked up by owner and when he got it home he started it ,it ran wide open, he let it run for about 10 minutes like this ,hoping it would idle down,it quit,it obviously had something going on with the govenor and it broke the rod front cylinder,if it were mine i would take it apart further and see what damage is done,at this point just looking for a replacement engine ,any one know of on for sale
