Brake drum removal

I don't see a snap ring,  but my puller isn't working...

Is there supposed to be a snap ring on the brake drum?

Was there a bolt in the end of the drum shaft?

If so  there shouldn't be a snap ring that I'm aware of.

No bolt? Yes ring...

Item 42 is a retaining ring shown at the end of 207 brake shaft.

Does the drum move even the least bit on the shaft? Or is it completely Frozen in place?

Could be the snap ring is gone, but there is enough rust build up to prevent it from coming off. Tap on the drum to get it onto the shaft as far as it will go then file off the rust accumulation as best you can.

Doesn't seem to move at all... and I have been trying a 3 jaw puller on it... Been soaking it in PB blaster...

A ball joint pickle fork may get ti moving for you. You can probably borrow or rent one at some of the auto parts stores. I have done this on a few with good results.

If you have access to it, lots of heat will be your friend as well.

I'm a ruffle some feathers with this and I don't mean to but I am not a fan of PB blaster.

Good old-fashioned $6 a can Liquid Wrench has been very very successful with me but there are also some other ones such as Kroil and I haven't tried it but Richard likes paraffin wax from a candle.

To free that thing up you may be able to take a small punch and punch in circles around the outside of where the drum is on the shaft.

Sounds like you got the drum off, if you are now trying to separate the case halves.

Mostly for steering wheels, it will run toward the heat when you heat the shaft.

New to me, I've got a half dozen different brands that have been recomended on here but never heard of "Nut Buster".

Think he is still fighting that and the part of the shift lever that is inside too.

I’m a fan of wax too, I works great on rusted snow plow bolts on my plow truck :handgestures-thumbupright:  I’ve been using that trick for many moons!

OK I was a little wrong on that pronunciation of the product it's called bolt buster. Here is a picture of the can .

Penetrating oil soak, small cold chisel at the base of the key and it should roll out.

I've been able to convince a round bottomed key to move by using a hammer and small punch or chisel to hit the ends and make it rock back and forth some. Then do as Richard said just above.

Concerned it will shear off flush with the axle and then I'll have a bigger problem.

Will keep soaking it..
