Brake drum removal

I use a brass drift pin and hammer down on the inner end of the key.  Then use Richards chisel technique on the outer end.  alternate whackings:P

Yes,  out of oxygen, atm. Propane may not heat quickly enough?

I only have propane here. It is slow, yes, but it works okay.

Heat that key really well and as it cools drop a little penetrating oil on the ends.

Cool.... Tap each end a little to rock it. Repeat procedure.

Got it.

Welded a small bolt on to give me something to grab and/or get a chisel on.

Good technique, will have to add that to our usual list of tricks!       :woohoo:

Well done!

Heard of doing that somewhere else too...

The heat from welding also can help free up the piece.

Kroil.  Very expensive, but worth the money.  It’s very effective

Basic problem with the brake drum was the width of drum was causing the arms to wedge themselves out from under it.... I rednecked 3 small bar clamps on there... quite an operation. That got them to tighten up before pulling out from under the drum.
