312 hydro break-clutch linkage failure

Recommended Posts

JoeB

I have a 312 hydro that has stopped because the leakage between the brake pedal and the transmission is lost.  I removed the cover in front of the seat and can see a cotter pin lying on the frame.  I can't get to part from the top or after removing the left tire.  I am assuming the horizontal rod on the end of the break lineage must fit into something that allows the motion control to come out of neutral but can't see that part.

How to get to those parts if I can't from the top.  What do I need to do to get it running again.

thanks in advance,

joe

Can you post some pictures.

I have a 312 gear transmission and thinking about how its made, I suspect you need to remove the seat and rear fender pan to get at that linkage.

If you remove the tunnel cover (4 bolts) and the left tire, you should be able to access the rod.102_0422.JPG.66c042e0873450fb4d8c46af3a0c1b7e.JPG

Ed it worked as you said.  I tried taking off the fender, but that didn't help.  Once I saw where the part fit it was clear what to do. Now I just have to get a washer and a cotter pin on it.  Looks like a pain and just needs patience.

thanks for your suggestions and the great picture.
