This year there’s two next year there’s twenty and so on . Cutting them down doesn’t work do it either . Have to bust out the chemicals and even then it took a couple years to rid of them . looks like pokeberry/ink berry

Pullstart 64,350 #29 Posted August 28, 2019 I mowed today and while I was getting some seat time, I decided to trim my trails and cut one last path leading to dinner (in the freezer). The plot is really coming in well!
Pullstart 64,350 #30 Posted September 5, 2019 I stopped by the plot today and am surprised at it’s growth! It’ll be exciting to see if there is any traffic soon...
Pullstart 64,350 #31 Posted October 7, 2019 Hey Jeff @WVHillbilly520H or @Ed Kennell how big a body is this? The track looks like about 5” overall length! It’s in a trail on my side property heading towards the plot.

To be all serious it's really difficult to judge body size on a hoof imprint alone especially in "muddy" conditions best to get yourself a "cheap" scouting/game camera (Wildgame Innovations) and set up some remote surveillance...

Ed Kennell 40,197 #36 Posted October 7, 2019 That is Goliath Norm. He belongs to Rod and Diane Miller who operate a deer farm in central Pa. He supplies semen for other deer breeding farms. Goliath was tranquilized and stolen from the Miller farm when he was 2 1/2 years old. He was eventually found and recovered by the Millers. He is now 6 1/2 years old, weighs 375 pounds, and is reported to carry one of the highest scoring racks in the world.
Pullstart 64,350 #37 Posted October 7, 2019 Here is one of the best reasons to get ya some deer. To wrap it in pig! 1
Ed Kennell 40,197 #38 Posted October 7, 2019 Now that smells gooood. I just finished one of my favorites. Deer stew...deer, carrots, onions, and potatoes with corn bread and honey. Sorry, none left for pictures.
Pullstart 64,350 #39 Posted October 9, 2019 My buddy insisted I get a game cam put up, so here we are today. I’m officially stepping away from the field for at least a week! I’ll check the films then... but the food plot has some trampling today!
Ed Kennell 40,197 #40 Posted October 9, 2019 May be time to start a Trail cam thread.
Pullstart 64,350 #42 Posted October 14, 2019 The food plot is starting to work, now to get more daytime action please! I have a feeling as it gets closer, and farmers are cutting their fields, we’ll see even more action.
Ed Kennell 40,197 #43 Posted October 14, 2019 Looks like a couple shooters there.
Pullstart 64,350 #44 Posted October 17, 2019 Well, my wishes came true! They’re cutting 110 acres of corn next door. This means a few things... 1. Hopefully more deer will seek shelter on my property! 2. The family gets our riding grounds back until spring! 3. More fuel will be burned, those girls can’t stay away from the field! 4. The farmer gets a silage crop! He was on the verge of total loss this year due to massive rains.
JCM 9,990 #45 Posted October 18, 2019 It's a good thing we just finished dinner or my stomach would have been growling and my mouth watering eyeing up that bacon wrapped around venison, probably backstraps. On the menu tonight was shepherds pie made with Moose meat from the fall of 2018 that a friend of mine Harvested in Northern Maine north of Moosehead Lake with a bow, live weight 920 lbs, it was some good eatin for sure. 1
Ed Kennell 40,197 #46 Posted October 18, 2019 I had Moose steak one time about 50 years ago. I still remember it was excellent tasting and very tender. Must be all those tender under water plants they feed on.

Pullstart 64,350 #48 Posted October 18, 2019 Last night my brother in-law stopped out, to scope for a better spot for my spare ladder stand. It’s on the edge of the field in Grandpa’s property next door where they’re cutting corn. We found some aggressive ground scrapes and trees roughed up just behind my stand. He scraped over what’s there and added a few scents like deer hide and a forehead gland scent. Not a ton of new trail cam activity, but it’ll happen soon! We kicked up few does and a big buck on the side of my yard and found his bedding area too, so now we know what to be mindful of on the way out to the stands.
Ed Kennell 40,197 #49 Posted October 19, 2019 The corn harvest is well under way here in Pa. Two doe came busting past my stand last evening when the corn picker bumped them out of the corn. I had a decent buck on the Tcam yesterday just after midnight. After the corn is off, we should see them in the woods during the day.

Now that the area is plowed, I’ll toss some chicken poop / bedding down, then disc it up. I’ll then broadcast my seed mix and drag a chain link fence section to work it in to the top of the soil. Woo hoo! Let the hunt begin! This makes me hungry just looking at it Nice pics!
