Don't go seeing any deer with that drone now. You'll be in trouble.

I am no professional, but from what little research I’ve done, I cannot fly my drone with intent of finding deer during the day of my hunt.  I can’t see much a difference between scouting from the air or from as many trail cameras as I’d like to place.  I’m open to being proven wrong and might even reach out to the local game warden. :handgestures-thumbupright:

What trouble?   I know it is illegal to hunt from motorized vehicles or to use electronic  devices to call or herd deer while hunting.

But is it illegal  to video deer from the air?

Every state probably has its own laws or are working on them but I would guess that it would be unlawful to do it the same day you hunt. Unlawful if it harasses the deer. Something along those lines.

@midpack I agree, they love that fresh dirt!  Digging my water hole for them, they tore up the dirt before there was water in place.  Plowing my food plots, they were curios before I planted!  The backfill from my old water hole?  It’s become a social rub!

To be clear, I don’t want break any laws.  With the concern, a I have sent my local CO a message, asking for regulations on the subject.  I’ll refrain from flying near the deers for the time being.

In Pee Aaa It is currently illegal for a hunter to not attempt to recover and completely use the meat from a harvested deer.     It is also illegal to use a drone and infrared cameras to locate the dead animal.

Try to understand the logic in that.        A local company was recently arrested for using a drone to locate a customers dead deer.    Our senseless deep state at work.

I drew Colleen into the picture.  Like Tracy Lawrence, in “Paint Me a Birmingham” when he sang “Can you paint me back into her heart again…” :handgestures-thumbupright:

Notice this is a scale drawing.  Only so much of her tires were exposed.  Hence they appear to be half moons, the rest was hiding in mud

Also shown in red, is the path we took during my last birthday celebration!

Wow, that would have been my deer stand.   Add a 360 roof turret, a couple torpedo heaters, and cover it with a tank camo net.

That would be a big net!

Additionally, I do believe we will employ Colleen during late doe, once the winter beats up the field a bit.  We’ll make sure to park her in a place we can have easy access and a good view of the field!

I don't know. I just know Michigan has some weird laws about deer and drones.

All this food plot and water hole work I’ve done this year, and to my northwest, I have standing corn.  Due north, I have a field of winter wheat.  NE, is my swamp, but they don’t present an opportunity on my land to shoot.  I’ve been watching deer now for a few weeks.  A while back, I moved a ladder stand to my north tree line, near the action.  I filmed a 6 point breed a doe.  That was awesome.  Then we had a real nice buck 30 minutes after dark at my water hole.  I was set to sit in my water hole tree until I saw that buck, but yesterday evening I had a button buck in the middle of my trail about 60 yards out.  I laid down before he saw me, and watched him feed and sniff and look around.  I grabbed an opportunity to back out and retreat to the ladder stand.

Other than the button buck, I called my puppy, this is the only deer I saw all night!  I’ll settle   My first archery deer.  My first over 8 points.  He’s a good 9, almost 10.  It was so close, I barely aimed!  He crashed in under my stand, he was practically leaning on my tree!  He looked up at me, but was on the prowl.  He stepped about 10 yards out or maybe less, and I let the old crossbow rip.  It was a bit further back than I’d have wished, but it was in the vitals cavity.  I ended up taking at least one of his lungs out and he ran about 200 yards through the corn.  I waited 2 hours to retrieve him, then Jada and I went tracking!  Jackie the Lever Steer is all tuned up with a tighter front end now, so we hitched up the hood sled and went to recover him!

I did not think this was the same guy, but he showed up just the night before 30 minutes after dark at my water hole.

Nice mature buck Kev...:greetings-clappingyellow:.            Just a suggestion, you may want to do the photo shoot before taking a blood bath with your deer.

I was going to suggest the same thing Ed... but remember who we're dealing with here ...

Now I have gutted quite a few in my day but never a bath like that!

You post a tube video with that and you would surely have the tube police  on you. Just sayin. Not that we wouldn't appreciate a vid on proper field dressing.

Surgical gloves Kev... right in the back pack next to the coffee thermos. Done with the chore peel them off and clean hands. DO NOT leave the gloves in the field tho. I also carry one of the plastic shopping bags for those field clean ups.

More tips on good field photos in deer tails if interested.

There may have been a little excitement in my veins last night!  Lots of film processing now, and the YT edits will be black and whited out :handgestures-thumbupright:

Zooming in, I see the split right side brow tine, making this my boy.  There are more out there, and I have a buck and doe tag still.  We are limited to two bucks and I don’t know how many does.  If I tag out, I’ll see about more.

You are zone 1, we are zone 3. I am not sure of the details, but I think I’ve never gotten more than 4 deer in a year.
