Pullstart 62,834 #252 Posted November 20, 2023 Bath time was a success. I don’t normally rinse them out, but I nipped his stomach and decided to give everything a good bath. It would be ideal to do this in a spot I could have running water and a drain but I did the best I could with the hose in the yard.

Ed Kennell 38,137 #254 Posted November 20, 2023 Our rifle season opens on Saturday. I still have a doe tag, so I dusted off the old Savage 110 and went to the rifle range. The .270 is 1/2" high at 50 yds and 1/4" right at 150 yds.... close enough to shoot the eye out of a meat deer. Congrats on the buck Kev. Was Li'l Pullstart with ya?

With a planned vacation trip before Christmas, opening morning was the only school day we allotted for her to miss for hunting.
Pullstart 62,834 #256 Posted November 21, 2023 Not the biggest deer I’ve shot, but the biggest this year!
Pullstart 62,834 #257 Posted November 24, 2023 17 degrees outside. I’m not even hauling the 450 to the tree. @Lil’ Pullstart should be getting the job done with her 350 today! Happy Black Friday!

Pullstart 62,834 #259 Posted November 24, 2023 We got Buckey cut up and processed on Wednesday. 4 good full grocery bags for the freezer and a spare burger bag in the fridge! This year, all burger got pork sausage and all meat got seasoned before packaging.
Pullstart 62,834 #260 Posted November 24, 2023 Two mature does just came barreling into the grass from behind us. The lead one spotted us before Rylee could get into position. Exciting though!

She said she might get down from the tree and go sit in the hot tub!

Right now though, a brunsweger egg everything bragel sammich is warming me! Our school bus is parked behind the barn. Having the batteries disconnected deems it immobile, and therefore it can be considered a hunting blind, by description of the law. Being 8’ off the ground vs. 24’ is a big difference in vantage point. If we are ryleedeerless still by late doe, we’ll use some Horses to plow down a big section of grass and sit in the bus out of the wind.
SylvanLakeWH 25,535 #266 Posted November 24, 2023 Hey Kevin, I understand 350's can be used with shotguns and muzzle loaders during muzzle load and late antlerless seasons in zone 3. Lil pullstart should be good to go through December!
WHX?? 48,814 #267 Posted November 24, 2023 I think I posted this on the turkey day thread. Not much but not seeing much in the nort woods. My cousin passed on this one as were seeing nice ones on camera but all nocturnal. Cindy is hunting hard but yet to even see a doe. Deer population is definitely down to to last year's severe winter. Some tracking dust at night but day sun melts it. 1

Why are these new straight walled cartridges legal for shotgun and muzzle loader seasons while many older existing cartridges with equal or less muzzle energy and velocity ae not legal. What is the purpose? political, some legislatures BIL owns a patent on a cartridge.
