Leaving for a month

Recommended Posts

So I am here at the airport waiting to board a plane to Europe. Back to my birthplace for a little while. Looking forward to it but as always a little apprehensive about leaving the comfort and safety of home.

That's perfectly normal. We all go through it. As much as Trina and I love to be in the middle of the woods we look forward to coming home four or five or six days later.

Good luck. Be safe. Keep us posted. Have an amazing trip!

Sitting in the big plane now. Will be over the Atlantic soon. Seven hours of cramped leg room and a sore neck coming up soon.

just learned also that fuel distributors in the country went on strike today. Great. I think it’s going to be an adventure this time.

Plane wings have a couple of red stripes. Comforting.

I'm usually apprehensive about having to use a strange bathroom.

Have a good holiday in your homeland.  Portugal at a guess. I heard the fuel delivery drivers were on strike.

I hope you are going to hit the wineries.  We both know how good the wine is there.:occasion-xmas:  Safe travels my friend.

I am here. Beautiful weather.  Little bit of a hassle with fuel since distributors are on strike. They have the army delivering fuel . Only about 6 gallons allowed per car so when I use the first quarter of a tank I fill again at the next station I can since many are totally out. Hopefully they resolve this before chaos starts.

Photos to follow as I go along .

It’s a Ford Focus station wagon. Cars here are geared quite differently . Six speeds geared for economy rather than power.

Considering also the exchange rate gas is a little over $7.00 per gallon. One quarter tank costs me the same as a full tank at home. And we think we have problems right?

That's heaven on Earth Cas.  I could sit in a lawn chair for days looking at that country side. Thanks for the pics of the wine room, that is a good sized wine press.  Great pictures Cas.  :occasion-xmas:

My village is Formariz. It’s part of a bigger town which is Paredes de Coura. You will find that one easier due to the famous rock concert.

The video is in another town called Viana do Castelo where my father lives.

That is so cool Cas...almost like the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena.  Very colorful and special.  Thanks for sharing those.  :handgestures-thumbupright:
