chip61 658 #1 Posted August 12, 2019 My neighbor has been telling me for a couple months that he found me another Wheel Horse-no details but he thought it had a starter-generator. He said the guy would trade me for a couple parts tractors I had in the field so I told him to go ahead and make the deal. I went down this weekend and the tractor was at his house. It turned out to be what I believe is a later 70's B80. It has the newer style seat mount and it's an 8-speed (I thought B80's were 4 speed?) Tractor is solid and all there but has a terrible paint job on it. Currently not running, but I pulled bowl off carb and it's full of residue from old ethanol so hopefully won't take a lot to get running. (it will fire if you spray fuel in carb) It has a much newer 36" rear discharge deck that looks like it has seen very little use. Even though this tractor isn't exactly what I expected I still got a good deal even though I'm probably going to get it running and let my neighbor use it as a backup mower. It doesn't look right with the 6" wheels. I am pretty sure one of the guys around has some 8" wheels and tires so I will probably get them if this proves to be a good running machine. I did put some deep dish on the front this spring but the originals the same size but not deep like these.Enjoy it. chip61 658 #10 Posted August 21, 2019 Some pics of the B80 when I got it, then one with the 8" front tires I borrowed off my dead 416H. Despite the terrible paint job, it appears to be a nice little tractor. I got it running fairly easily once I got all the ethanol residue out of the carburetor. It has decent power for the 36" deck (deck is a 1999 model. looks like it's seen very little use) I cut my front yard with it since I already had it out, and that grass was pretty thick! gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,037 #12 Posted August 21, 2019 Any chance you can determine what the 4th digit is in the bottom box. That is the Julian built date and they often struggled with the concept. I see 633_. It should have been 533_ but can understand the confusion. They were building 1976 models in 1975. 33_ is the number of the day in the year. Added your 05845 serial number.
