I will mix a couple gallons for my 2-stroke engines and add stabilizer so I don't have any problems even if I don't use a chain saw for several months. I am very fortunate to have several sources of non ethanol fuel near my place in Mathews (on the water), and a station a few miles from home also has it. In the winter when the cost goes down I will run it in my old truck. Even though it's more expensive I gain 1-1.5 miles per gallon and it is actually as cheap or cheaper and the truck runs better. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Stepney 2,325 #34 Posted August 21, 2019 Some may disagree, but I really take it as a gimmick and nothing more. There was a time when my 2-stroke equipment was used almost commercially. Always ran a good high quality oil and premium gas. Not because the gas was better, but because oil lowers the octane rating of the fuel. In fact, the engines that often came to me USING that fuel often seemed to have more issues. Soft lines and diaphragms, scored up cylinders, etc. Stuff I never saw on 20-30+ year old maintained equipment using regular oil and gas. The stuff reminds me of naptha, or old coleman fuel. it just vaporizes very easily .. offers no other benefit. Perhaps masking over the issues of an out of tune or dirty carb, but offering little more to the puzzle. Tried it in an old LawnBoy at one point in time and man did it ever run hot. There's an old Toro TC2010 in my shed that has been setting for about 3 years with regular gas and stabil in it..
