I presume the vibration started after you sharpened the blades and greased the spindles? Did you pull the blades off to sharpen them? If you did, is it possible you put one of them back on upside down? As old as the tractor is, I'm sure it's had the blades replaced. Check to see if all of the bolts that attach the spindles to the deck are tight.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #3 Posted August 9, 2019 Check to make sure there is not a piece of wood or something jammed in the groove of one of the V-pulleys. When the belt climbs over the foreign material it sets up a vibration. The biggest cause of deck vibrations are blades that are not balanced. Garry
peter lena 8,583 #4 Posted August 9, 2019 you might also have the start or growth of a spindle crack in the deck, drop the deck , do a detailed inspection and cleaning , verify blade placement for correctness . i have found the idler pulley to be a prime issue for noise and shaking, but a thorough inspection will undoubtedly find your issue. pete

Garry The biggest cause of deck vibrations are blades that are not balanced. My opinion as well.
ronhatch 406 #6 Posted August 9, 2019 (edited) If it started shaking after you sharpened the blades would be a big clue in my book. What did you sharpen them with? An electric grinder of some type? I use a good 12" Mill file so I can control it better and take off a little as possible. Try balancing them. Edited August 10, 2019 by ronhatch
953 nut 55,091 #7 Posted August 10, 2019 Take a look at the deck in the area of the spindles. When the deck was stamped out at the factory they created some stress points that crack over time. Removing and installing the blades may have further weakened one of these areas.
