bars leak liquid copper anybody ever use it?

on my 96 mustang gt I have slight coolant leak on the intake manifold.  anybody ever use this stuff I figure for 8 bucks it's worth a try.  it's a limited use car that I put about 1500 miles on a year and it sits all winter.

Don't remember the location of the coolant ports but why risk it? Coolant could also leak to the inside.

Just remember if it can plug a hole (leak) it can plug a radiator, thermostat, heater core........  good luck

If it's a vehicle that you value, I would fix it right. When I young, we used Bars Stop Leak. Pour a can into the radiator and it would seal pinholes. Then when the car started overheating and the radiator had to be cored, we learned that we were clogging the radiator as well as plugging the leak. My dad used to pour black pepper into his radiator. He was cheap. Same results

I’ve heard of the black pepper trick, and raw eggs too.  If all else fails, you’ll have a sweet breakfast!

If it has the V6 intake manifold leaks are common, you'll need a fuel line disconnect tool and a T-40 socket electrical connections are plug n play.

 

Depress the schrader valve on the fuel manifold to release pressure before attempting the disconnect.

 

It's an afternoon or evening job.

it's the 4.6 v8, I think they are known intake issues too

It will mess with the coolant temp sensors and you can never get it all out.

 

Your leak is the intake gaskets around the water jackets or the coolant cross-over pipe. The 4.6 intake manifold is stupid easy to remove, just be careful with the two long bolts at the water neck.

 

This repair is not expensive or difficult enough to do it wrong. The gasket set is under $50, if you have even the most limited of mechanical ability you can do the job yourself in under 3 hours with just basic hand tools. I don't even break out the 3/8 drive stuff for that intake.

Any Ford with a GT package has the biggest engine offered that year.

 

The exception is the 04-09 Mustangs where the GT had the 4.6, but there was a 5.8L V8 in the Cobra.

I dug a little deeper and found the intake manifold has a nasty crack at the thermostat housing.  off to the shop it went for a new manifold.  I see the new replacement ones have a metal cross over instead of plastic.  as for the magic sealer it went back to walmart.
