For Your Consideration

Recommended Posts

BOB ELLISON

I bought a new off the showroom vaga station wagon. Green with wood grain stick on's down both sides. Really a pretty little car. I drove it for @2 years and at 60000 miles it was dead. The drivers door outer skin would flap in the wind.

I've only bought 1 old Chevy for $50.00 and sold it for $150.00. never bought another Chevy product since 1975. But I have to admire @pullstart and his Chevy truck at the big show.

I could hardly keep up with him on the turnpike.

I was pretty hung-ho to see some of my buddies, but that Chevy didn’t miss a beat!

Car was actually built in Brazil and imported to the U.S.  not my first ride but had one (1981 vintage Scooter black with tri-color red/orange stripes) that I actually "treed a real 'Vette at a stoplight and nearly beat him to the next light, god times and 33mpg.

I have to acknowledge that the Chevrolet chevette was not much.

However, that little 1.6 l 4 speed drivetrain was very close to indestructible. Several of us tried.

It didn't have enough power to hurt it's self.

The chevette was sold under the Vauxhall badge over here. The trouble these days, you don't know who makes what. The days of seeing a car go past and saying that's a so and so are long gone. You could tell by the body style and radiator grill. Now they all look much the same.

"It was a Ford, Honda, VW, Rover, Ozzifer."

So, Yugos

Growing up in the small town where I did we had no Yugo dealer around so they were as rare as hen's teeth which was probably good.

The only time I was ever around 1 is when I sold somebody a set of brake pads and I realized exactly how small they really were.

Seems as though that one has slightly more power than the stock chevette

A few years back when the Chevy Aveos started hitting the used market I had an incident where I injured myself while working on one.

I was working at a Ford dealer and was doing the used car check on the first one we got, put it up on the lift to check the underside and fell down laughing when I saw the muffler.

It had great big letters stamped into it that said "DAEWOO".

Next item for your consideration, this home-made pull-behind deck.

My father built one very similar to this back in the 1970s.

30" ariens rider in the front and a couple 20" push mowers on each side. All held together with simple angle iron and bolts.

Worked quite well on a straight run.

Be a bit of fuel used with that and a tractor.

I've actually thought about trying to build some sort of pull-behind deck that is gear driven off its own wheels, so that I could off-set it to the side to make mowing faster.

I like my seat time, but some times you just gotta get it done.

That would certainly cut mowing time. Not sure if I could maneuver it around some of the obstacles in my yard.
