Drive belt size for 314-A

Needing some help here. The drive belt on my 1985 314-A is missing huge chunks in it. Its seriously in need of replacement. I went the manual section here on the size and looked up the belt size. It says its a 5/8 by 81. I ordered one up and now have my tractor torn down and it doesn't fit. I thought someone on the facebook group said it needed to be an 84" belt but I went with what was listed here on this site as its never steered me wrong before. I could MAYBE wrench the 81" belt on but it would be really tight and the belt tensioner lever wouldn't really do much. 84" seems to big. Can anyone help me out here? Luckily we are in a dry spell here in michigan but it did rain really well last night and the heat is going to start going away so I am going to need to mow this week. Would love to get a new belt ordered today so its here in a few days.

Thanks!

Justin

The original belt was 81.5" but you will not find a replacement with fractional dimensions. A 5/8" x 82" should work. Make sure you get one designed to bend backwards over a flat idler. The green Gates belts available from Napa is one. Click on the picture
