Wheel Horse C-165 manually pushing/coil

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know how to release the transmission so I can manually push it? I can only push it for a few feet then it locks up. I’ve been looking for a release knob/cable but don’t see anything.

Also I’ve have been going through a few coils, is it due to the vibration of the engine?

thanks

Matt

If your C165 has the Eaton 1100 Hydro then there is no release valve for free wheeling. I’ve heard that the best way to push one is with the hydro control lever pushed all the way forward (as if you were going full speed ahead) and to not push it to fast.

I pull the belt releace up when rolling it in the garage. I see the releace handle is missing also I use some 1/4 nylon tubing ans a small bolt to replace mine.

Have you checked your voltage while running.  More than 14.5 is not  good thing.  Also have you purchased internally resisted coils???  if not you need to use a ballast resistor. (which are a bit of a pain and weak spot in their own right.  An internally resisted coil is a better way to go.  I doubt the vibration is your problem as coils can last many years mounted on the engine...

Your feed wire for the coil looks a bit dodgy...are you sure yo are getting consistent voltage at the coil???

Thanks. I fixed the handle in a similar fashion. I pulled the belt off the pulley where your right foot would be still not able to move much. Think it’s more dependent on the rear wheel/ gearbox area

After taking it in to a small engine shop they put a new coil and wire( yeah it looks dodgy)  Yeah it’s under 14 v. as of now
