Duke was going to build a front end loader for this 520 and decided to go another route I believe. I think he wanted something with power steering if I remember correctly. 1

kpinnc 12,028 #34 Posted February 23, 2022 (edited) I've had three: the first bought years back for $100 with the Onan parts in a cardboard box. It was repowered for a while with a Vanguard twin. Best Eaton transmission I've seen. Picked up a 520-8 that had sat in a field for decades. Paint peeled off, everything rusted, flat rotted tires, no engine. Tranny full of water. Unfortunately a parts machine. Quite the shame... Bought a third two years ago. Engine was great, tranny was serviceable, but on its way out. Used it for a while but the hills at my new property sped up the demise of the tranny. So, now I have a cobbled together 520-H that is a combination of the better parts of the bunch rolled into one. It isn't pretty, but runs well with a strong transmission. It may get a refresh at some point but for now it's a solid worker. It's pictured below in all it's pink glory. And several other tractors have inherited swept axles and other components where needed. It's a shame to cannibalize, but nothing could be done otherwise. I have a 1994 520H, with the “TORO” on the hood. I don’t like or dislike it one way or the other. If there is anything to like about it, I usually like things like they are from the factory. But if someone prefers something else, that in no way offends me… Edited February 23, 2022 by Horse Newbie

Beap52 811 #40 Posted February 24, 2022 Had a 520H given to me last winter. Spent most of the winter getting it in shape as it had been sitting for ten years in a barn. Got it when it had 930 hours and now has 970 hours. I really like how smooth the Onan runs. I have really enjoyed this machine. Most of our mowing is done with a TORO zero turn.
Horse Newbie 7,069 #41 Posted February 24, 2022 (edited) I have a 1994 520H, bought from OO’s wife in 2017 if I remember correctly. I cranked it when I got it home and rolled in the shop. In 2020 winter I refreshed it with a paint job(Rustoleum Regal Red) and basically went through the whole tractor… change fluids and filters, new Chinese carb, new hour meter, new oil pressure switch, resealed the intake manifold, adjust valves, new RR, new battery, new battery tray, new fuse block, new fuses, new decals, new plugs, powder coated wheels and hub caps, new dash bulbs, LED headlights, new fuel pump, new front wheel bearings, rebuilt hydraulic cylinder and spool valve, new Hi-Run turf tires, new valve stems, new air in tires. I also went through the wiring harness fixing issues and coated all connectors with dielectric grease. It came with a 48” SD deck, and a 36” rototiller. The deck will be rebuilt this spring as the tractor is not yet a worker. I have since bought a plow and a 48” dozer blade for it. The last pic is when I brought it home… FullSizeRender.MOV Edited February 24, 2022 by Horse Newbie 2 4

I don’t remember what I paid for it but in my mind I feel like I got a great deal, ha ha. In 2015 I bought a zero turn and decided to sell it. It gave me 900 trouble free hours. I love mowing with my zero turn because of the speed and efficiency but I missed the 520. In 2016 my mom passed away and as we were cleaning out my parent’s basement I decided to pull out my dad’s C-161 that had been sitting down there for about 8 years. All it needed was a little elbow grease and a tune up and it was ready to go. Dad was a stickler when it came to taking care of his stuff. That got me back into the Wheelhorse game and last year I decided I wanted to build an FEL and I wanted a 520 to put it on. Horsefixer (Duke) had one for sale and with the help of Denny Clarke I bought it and got it home. I love that thing and I am always amazed how capable that little tractor is. My original 520 just before I sold it: Dad’s 161: My 520 from Duke after a few mods: With FEL added: I’m buying my first 520H and plan to build a loader. But I’m curious as to what these kwik way loaders used for the hydraulic pump? Do you have a photo showing what yours has?

I sold my tractor to @WHX?? and I gave him all of the information so he might look in the book and chime in here. I do have a couple of old pictures that I attached showing my pump and how I have it installed. I’m not sure on the Kwik Way. 3
