Pullstart 63,529 #76 Posted July 30, 2019 Well, yesterday I spent some time repairing Grampa’s farm truck frame. The welder was still showing signs of pops, bubbles and junk in the bead. I ended up figuring out that the gas was leaking out of this boot on the gun cord! I had no idea that it just flows around the sleeve and it had been electric tape repaired in the past. A few more wraps of tape for the time being and we’re welding clean beads again! The top anchor pieces are drilled and I have these wood inserts to put into the top too.

For the amount of time I’ll run it, I opted for the case. I would highly recommend it after 20’ of use! Hmm I think I just found my next tool purchase! I didn't know this thing existed until this post. Awesome saw, makes me wanna go fabricate something 1 1

Pullstart 63,529 #80 Posted July 31, 2019 I am building the box for electrical access today. There will be a channel of angle iron to hide the wires too. 3
Tractorhead 9,065 #81 Posted July 31, 2019 (edited) Cool, it‘s real strong built. not as a critic - just as an ask, how about a Drawer below maybe the middle section for some perambulator? i don‘t know about clearance below you table, but if possible, i think i can be additional „Whow“ item. thinkin about maybe an standard prebuilt drawer not to big, wich one was made of wood - for Paper and pencils i.eg or for remotes. The Wood a bit flamed on the edges with a torch for a rugged design and with simply a drilled hole to pull out. mounted in to simple folded angle brackets, they connected together with two flats they welded as rails for the drawer. think the drawer shall simply run on those two rails and is maybe a senseful gadget. Pullstart 63,529 #82 Posted August 1, 2019 A little bit is complete on the box. I’ll weld up the outside, then grind it all smooth. It’ll bolt onto the plate for the best access to power and communication wires.
Tractorhead 9,065 #83 Posted August 1, 2019 Curious, how it will looking if it is Finished. As i know you, i‘m nearly 100% sure you keep it in Mind, But i allow me kindly, to remind you while you‘re dealing with Metal and Power, please take care for an usable potential Ground connector for all the Metal Parts. i didn‘t know much about the rules in USA, but here we must have a potential connector on each thing, if a Metall Frame in combination with Power is used. This can be solved just by a thread or a Screwpoint, where Ground can be clamped or an fixed screw for Potential Ground was in.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a grounded piece of furniture but I could see why that might be beneficial!
Tractorhead 9,065 #85 Posted August 1, 2019 If Furniture have connector Boxes for Lanwires and mountings for Powercords made of Metall, they must have. Visible mounted they are mostly only at Furniture for Antistatic Clamps, otherwise if Furniture has Power connectors in, they‘re most hidden. For Funiture, they have no Powerconnectors, or this parts build in Plastic it‘s not realy required. Here any Households and/Or Companies must have a RCD, for Person Protection. This will be Law at my side since later 70-ies. If an older household is used and no changings are happen, it is in your own interest, but if they renal, they must change, at least bathroom and Kitchen. Pullstart 63,529 #86 Posted August 1, 2019 Remember too, we typically run with half the voltage you do... Unless you have a Euro-plug for your coffee machine!
Pullstart 63,529 #87 Posted August 1, 2019 I finished welding and smoothing the cover, then grabbed some 10-32 screws to hold it down.
Tractorhead 9,065 #88 Posted August 1, 2019 Independent about our conversation about Grounding, do you plan it „rugged“ - means just protected by clearcoat, or Painted? i like the Rugged Style and be curious about the final result.
Pullstart 63,529 #89 Posted August 5, 2019 A finishing touch, before finishing touches, like grinding and smoothing. This 7/8” angle iron makes a communications channel from the box to the underside of the table top. 4
Pullstart 63,529 #90 Posted August 5, 2019 Date stamped! That’s something I forgot on the main piece... someone in 200 years might want to know this stuff 1 1
Pullstart 63,529 #91 Posted August 5, 2019 I finished the channel, time to dress the two outside welds and put a final radius on the entire piece. These little threaded eyes sure make moving this thing easy! I’m so excited to see it all come together, soon! 4
Pullstart 63,529 #92 Posted August 9, 2019 I couldn’t stand the few pits here and there and a few voids from not quite enough fill when I was welding, so I buttered the smooth ground radiuses with PC-7 so it’ll be pretty and smooth after paint. Almost finished! 3 3

It’s supposed to be machinable, drillable, threadable, and hard as steel when it’s finished. For this instance, it’s just used as a super hard body filler and a bit over-done.

Pullstart 63,529 #100 Posted August 11, 2019 The PC-7 is cured well past it’s recommended 24 hours, it’s time to finish this piece up! As the filler comes off, you can see that the small voids filled well. I’ll be much more satisfied with the final product! 3
