dalez 137 #1 Posted July 9, 2019 I recently purchased a 97 416-H and am going through it. The dipstick looks short and I don't want to overfill it. I've attached a photo of it for reference if someone could confirm it is the correct on I would sure appreciate it. Thanks, Dale

Thanks, Dale Can't help you on the length that it should be since I don't own a tractor of that series, but I assume it's still showing to be low after you put oil in it. If it still has old oil in it, you could drain it and compare what came out (and where it lay on the dipstick) to what the factory says should be in it. It will obviously be less than it should due to the residual in the transmission and what was in the filter, but it would give you an idea.
dalez 137 #3 Posted July 10, 2019 I thought of that but still would like to know about the dipstick. It only goes into the tranny about an inch after the dipstick tube. It just seems it would be filled almost to the brim. Thanks.

It just says to "Check oil with engine off" Except for length it is very much the same as the one on my 310-8 which has a part # I will go with pfrederi about it being almost filled to the brim and just assume it is the correct one. Thanks all.

cleat 6,344 #10 Posted July 17, 2019 And just so you know, the dipstick handle is also the transmission vent. Make sure it is clear and that you can blow through it. A couple of mine were plugged and that can cause a seal to leak due to pressure buildup. 2
