Tribsa500 6 #1 Posted July 7, 2019 Hi folks, my '74 K301 starts and runs o.k; however when i stop it,gas runs out of the Walbro carb mouth, any ideas.I've cleaned the fuel bowl and sprayed 'carb cleaner' as best as possible. With the ignition (and therefore the fuel pump) off,how is that happening? Is it a syphoning effect?
ebinmaine 67,257 #2 Posted July 7, 2019 Carb needle is stuck open. Remove the carburetor and give it a good cleaning. Also replace or carefully clean the needle and seat.
Tribsa500 6 #4 Posted July 7, 2019 Hi, I thought it might be something like that, but I wondered if there was a 'crafty' fix, because this carb has not been of for decades,so I'll have to get a full gasket/seal kit. Wow,you guys rise early on a Sunday morning! Many thanks.
ebinmaine 67,257 #5 Posted July 7, 2019 On an old Kohler a full carb kit isn't but a few things. One thing you could try is to remove the bowl with the carb still on the engine. You can likely buy the needle separately. If it's the type with a rubber end you might get away with just replacing the needle.

Tribsa500 6 #9 Posted July 7, 2019 Thanks folks, I had to remove carb (the replacement muffler is to close to it) and when I removed float I found what looked like a dog hair trapped down along side the needle.Job done. Also fitted an inline filter and new pipes (ethanol.......don't we just love it ?!!!!) Cheers Guys.
