Lee1977 6,937 #52 Posted July 11, 2019 My c-120/180 just got a new light lens. The original got broken at my bosses farm back in the early 90's. 1

ebinmaine 69,842 #54 Posted July 12, 2019 Just as an interesting side note... Trina and I get asked fairly often how much snow we get, annually. This past year was about average. The pile I'm standing beside was covered, all but the top few pieces. I'm 6'-2" with shoes on. 3 1

If we did I missed it.

dells68 7,498 #58 Posted July 12, 2019 Not the best shot, but I was so excited to get it this far, that I had to post. I’m going to put my sickle mower on this fella. I rebuilt the carb, rebuilt the generator, and installed an 8 speed to lower the ground speed. It also gets the 10.5 tires and wheel weights I got from Mike, @Sparky. I hope to mount the sickle bar I got from Rodney and @Lane Ranger tomorrow to take it to our local show next week. Haven’t decided if I’m going to repaint or live with the old repaint it has on it now. Any opinions? 4
Stormin 9,983 #59 Posted July 12, 2019 If it's already been repainted, I'd do it again. But better.

If the picture is generous and it doesn't look very good close-up, I wouldn't feel bad about another repaint on that.
dells68 7,498 #63 Posted July 12, 2019 If you get up close, the repaint is peeling some. From what I can tell, the original paint under doesn’t look too bad. I plan on using this one - hence the wide rubber and weights to help keep her planted on the ground. I’ve thought about trying to remove some of the repaint and rubbing it out like Craig suggested. I’m afraid if I repaint it, I’ll be afraid of messing it up.
rjg854 11,734 #64 Posted July 12, 2019 You always do such a nice job on your repaints, I'd say go for it Dell. Its already been repainted so you're not saving the original patina. And it sounds as though you're going to use it as a show tractor, it should look it's best

I like to take them to shows, but I plan on putting the sickle bar on roadside and ditch duty on our farm. Little of both I guess!
AMC RULES 37,144 #67 Posted July 13, 2019 (edited) Try this Dells... in an inconspicuous place, get an old, clean t-shirt rag wetted with a generous amount of carb cleaner and give it a quick wipe to see if the repaint will come off. Might take a couple trys in the same spot to get the top coat to come off, leaving what's left of the factory original paint in place. Use caution not to get the area too "hot" to cause the original factory paint to lift too. Worth a try, what've you got to lose? dells68 7,498 #69 Posted July 13, 2019 Thanks Craig. I’ll give it a try. I used lacquer thinner on a rag and removed the repaint from the original decals, came off pretty easy. Might experiment around tomorrow to see what I can do.
dells68 7,498 #70 Posted July 13, 2019 @953 nut did you get the hat steering issue sorted out? Hated not to get to see you ride it at the Big Show!
AMC RULES 37,144 #71 Posted July 13, 2019 I've done it before with great success... just keep turning the rag to a clean area before you reapply the carb cleaner. Then, like I said...quick applications, don't rub in one spot to long, getting the area too "hot" with the carb cleaner. 2

The steering arm is welded to a piece of one inch pipe slaved over the one inch axle pivot. I hadn't welded it well enough to hold up to six hundred miles of vibration on Interstate-81 but now it is seal welded all around, problem over! 1
