Update:

Got most of the parts reassembled, tractor has been rewired.  Finished most of that late last night, so pictures will be coming after work today.  Had to buy another set of rims for the rear tires because once I started wire wheeling the rust off the rims, they start leaking air, the metal was so thin and rusted.  Might even break down and buy another set of tires depending on how well they come off the rims.  They are original :wh: tires.  Never did get the steering wheel off the shaft, but that's ok, it will work fine the way it is.  I'll work on the fuel lines tonight and hopefully fire it up.  Cranks over fine, just need the fuel to go.  Decals will be the final touch!

It's to blinking hot to work out in the horse barn tonight,  heat index is like 98 degrees.  Supposed to be feel like 110 tomorrow, so might not get to much done tomorrow either.   I did promise pictures though

It looks like the spec plate decal is lifting at the bottom right side?

Let me know in a pm I will make you another one Randy.

@Vinylguy it looks like that because it is sitting on the rivets that holds the original plate to the cover.  I haven't trimmed around them yet.

Not truly a resto by any means, just clear coated the hood and seat pan, gave the rest of the tractor a rattle can paint job, rewired it, replaced some parts for the motion control, and adjusted it, Then bought a set of wheels and rims from @squonk, that still need to be cleaned up some. Added lights front and rear, for snow plowing duties.

I wanted to keep a little of the originality of it. After all it is 52 years old.

Are you going to E-tank those wheels like how you wanted me to keep ‘em for Frank?

No, I'll paint them an off white like they would normally be.

I did put the decals on today.  And was driving it up and down the driveway.  Sure like how it turned out :handgestures-thumbupright:

I'd like to thank @TractorNut for selling me this tractor instead of parting it out.

Painted the wheel weights that will be going on the 877 this year for plow duties.

The wheels will be cleaned up and painted over the weekend. Once I get it all together, I'll make up my mind whether I like them this color or not.

It's been awhile, but I finally found someone to sandblast a couple sets of wheels for me.  Last weekend I got them cleaned up and primed.  When I got home from work, I got the inside of the rims painted,  so that's enough for today.  They can sit now overnight,  giving them a chance to harden up some so I flip them tomorrow afternoon and paint the outside of the rims. Then they can sit another week and I'll get the tires mounted and back on the tractors.

      Guys,

I've known of the location of this tractor for three or four years now. Kept telling myself  "one of these days I'll stop and ask about that old tractor". One day not too long ago I actually did stop but could not get anyone to answer the door. The tractor was nearly impossible to see from the street unless it was winter time as the plant growth kept it pretty well hidden. I have no idea how long it has sat outside in the postion I found it. A long time I'm sure. Anyway, I was down at the Mentone show/swapmeet (just south of Elkhart about thirty-five miles) on Friday and got to thinking about the old tractor and decided to stop again to check on it and to find out if it was for sale. An elderly lady answered the door this time and I introduced myself to her and explained why I had stopped. I asked her if she or her husband would consider selling the tractor to me and she said "my husband died about a year and a half ago so lets walk back there and you can show me what you're talking about. So we walked through her house, out through her enclosed patio, across her garden patio, and then were able to see the tractor. I said "that's the tractor I was talking about". She said "that ol thing? You can have that! I've been wanting it out of here for a long time. My daughter's been complaining about it cause she's always having to mow around it. Just come get it and get it out of here!" ............I was stunned!

The next morning at the restaraunt I go to every Saturday for breakfast I was telling all the boys at the BS table that I had been given a tractor out in the south part of Elkhart that I had spotted several years ago. One of the fellows who has a few early Wheel Horses himself said "there was a guy out south a ways that had an old Wheel Horse that everybody and their brother has tried to buy but he would not sell it for love nor money. He passed away a while back. His name was Becker." I looked at the name of the lady who owned the tractor that I had written down along with her phone number. Sure enough her name was Becker. I told my buddy "That's the one!" Then the conversation lit up. He said "You got to be kidding!" I said "Hey, right place right time!" ............................Guy's this kind of thing doesn't happen to me, always the other guy!

Anyway it looks to be quite complete. Has all original tires, original seat, and still had the key hanging in the ignition switch. But above all the engine is not stuck! Will be quite a challenge but a lot of fun too!

      Gary

So I have tried to fix the original, and then tried to use another switch (both battery ign) and neither had 12v to coil anymore. So its got a new mag ign switch in it, and I would like to put 12v to coil on a toggle switch. However I know I would forget and leave it on. The 877 has a generator warning light, mine hasn't been used in a long time. It no longer has a bulb, or anything else that would have been on the back side of it? What would it take to wire that light to come on when I have the toggle for 12v power to coil on?
P.S. wiring is not my strong suit

Does anyone have any pictures of any 877 wheel horses?
