Is this silver rod a part of this sickle bar? And if so what does it do and where does this attach?  Thanks

Yes, that's the correct lift rod. It attaches to your implement rockshaft at the dash tower, just as a deck/plow etc would. I think you use the inner hole on the shaft.. atleast thats how it was on mine. You don't want the higher lifting one, if you have a hydro like me it'll destroy the weakest part once the sickle lifts.. IE that rod.

Thank you.  I may put it on C160-8 if I can figure out how to connect it to the PTO.

Don't even try the PTO, you will spin that old unit way too fast. I have a C160 engine in my Electro 12. Remove your PTO clutch and bearing race leaving just the trans drive pulley on the crank. Pick up a 1 1/8" id shaft, about 2" dia V belt pulley. Key that in place of your PTO. The sickle front brackets go in place of the Tach-A-Matic bracket. Bolt spacing is the same. Then you simply run a belt from the sickle drive up around the engine and the pedal operated PTO. Good to go.

Alright guys your on the topic I’m needing help on!  I bought a sickle bar at the Big Show, but it’s missing the lift rod.  I don’t see anywhere on mine to mount it.  @dkg520, is there any chance I could get you to snap a pic of how it mounts to your sickle bar?  There doesn’t appear to be a mounting spot for a rod on mine.  Dimensions on its placement on the sickle wood be helpful too.  Here’s a pic of mine.

some of the early ones did not have a hole for a lift rod, nor did they have a belt cover on the front where the lift rod is installed

Ok Tom, that brings my next question.  Could I make a mount to fit in place of the cover to keep from altering my sickle bar?  I don’t want to mess it up!
