oliver2-44 9,695 #7 Posted July 1, 2019 I agree with paint them to put a protective layer between the aluminum and grass rot, etc. I like to paint between the aluminum to steel deck to reduce the chance of dissimilar metal galvanic corrosion. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
cleat 5,811 #8 Posted July 1, 2019 All of my decks have had the spindles bead blasted, primed, and painted with silver paint. They seem to be holding up fine. I try to scrape off as much ground up grass a possible from under the deck after each mowing using a brass scraper. These decks really only have a few spots where the grass builds up underneath with the left side of the two rightmost spindles being 2 of them. I never mow wet grass so it does not stick too badly.
