ebinmaine 67,264 #1 Posted June 29, 2019 @Mows4three @bellevillerod I'm finally getting around to putting the tie rods together for the cinnamon horse. The holes on the steering knuckles are wallowed out a bit like they are on many of our horses. I decided to go to the next size up tie rod which is 7/16. I also decided to change over to heim joints which should tighten things up. For comparison of size the stock tie rod in the picture has a .625 diameter and the new one will have an .875 diameter. Overkill? Maybe. Go big or go home. 10

With the regular sized one's I believe there is some DOM tubing just the right size to tap. Wasn't sure if these weren't the same way. Randy

Mows4three 826 #9 Posted June 30, 2019 Eric, Knowing the plethora of stones, rocks and boulders you have to navigate in your neck of the woods, I applauded your effort to over-engineer a solution for the Cinnamon Steed. I want some, too! Bravo, pal. Dave 1

I was even able to correctly sharpen a drill bit this evening. I used the small grinder (scissor/knife sharpener) I had picked up last fall. First time I've tried it in practical usage.
Mows4three 826 #11 Posted June 30, 2019 I'm still working on getting the hang of freehand drill bit sharpening. It's a skill that still evades me. I can get close but one side or the other is off. Maybe one of these days.... Dave

ebinmaine 67,264 #22 Posted June 30, 2019 Here's a few photos from this morning. Trina painted them last night and I assembled, and installed them today. You can see an inner boot cover. Those and the heim joints came from McMaster-Carr.
