36in SD Deck on No Name

Recommended Posts

LengerichKA88

I’m attempting to put the deck we got with this tractor on, but I don’t know what I’m doing haha.

I’ve got the mule drive back on, I’ve got the front bracket connected (that’s what I’m calling it, and I believe I have the right thing in the right place). But I can’t for the life of me figure out how I’m supposed to attach the bar (same one I used for the dozer blade)to the deck so that the deck will raise and lower. I also haven’t been able to find a decent picture showing how the belt(s) will go, and what sizes I’ll need. Am I missing a part? Do I have something in the wrong spot?

Tried to take as many pictures showing as much as I could, if more are needed, I’ll be happy to take them. Thanks in advance for any help!

See if these pics don’t help you out your lift  arm goes into a long slotted hole on the deck in the bar that goes into the attach o matic has a set of fork like that

goes straight up. Make sure to hook up

the lift arm first.

That helps, thanks @The Tool Crib! But also raises another question: what does this chain piece you have go to?

I don’t have one of those, but I’ve got this:

@The Tool Crib would it me too much to ask for pictures of the belts? I’ve never used a tractor that had a PTO before, so I’m clueless on that too, and haven’t found many pictures.

Angles like this is what I’m looking for:

That is the same as the chain. It goes from your lift to the arm that goes to the deck.

I hope im making sense! Im bad at directions sorry

Just make sure your belt comes off the top of the PTO goes to the inside of the mule drive And the bottom of the PTO goes to the outside pulley on the mule drive

Well, I see that it’s going to have to wait anyway, as I don’t have the correct pulley... I’ll need to find one of those it appears

What pulley do you need?

Here’s another question that you may be able to answer for me: Is there a way to make this deck work on this tractor?

I highly doubt it, but thought it would be worth to ask.

That is a totally different attachment. And the attach o matic  will not work.

You mean the 42in deck correct? I didn’t think so, was worth a shot to ask. It’s the one that came with the Charger 9

The one that’s under it and came with it is the 36in. It doesn’t have an open faced guard like the 42 does. That’s the one I need to find a double pulley for like what’s on yours. Sorry if I wasn’t clear:

when we bought it, that pulley was missing. We ordered what we thought was the right one at the time (September of last year-ish). Now that I’ve seen your pictures, we know that is not the case.

Which is perfectly fine! Now I know what I need.

Jackssmallengines.com carries the double pulley. They’re not cheap though.

In fact, that deck can work. The mounting for the hitch is a bit outdated, (That design is about 1966-70) but you can still hook it on with the lift rod and mid hitch, and run the mule drive as you would a newer deck. I have one set up that way here. Just remove the tensioner assembly from the side of it and leave only the center 'cradle'.
The only thing to be careful of is to slack off the tension adjustment before lifting the deck for transport, as I find they will tighten up as you lift the deck. Otherwise, it should atleast get you going. Also while not visible, that older deck may have the double pulley you need.

Do you happen to know the part number? I tried looking through the files, but I’ve had no luck yet.

I’ll take a look and see if it’s got the pulley I need. If so I’ll borrow it. It’s good to know that this deck is usable with this tractor too, with a little tweaking.

Thanks for the help gents! This evening I’ll have some time to go out and tinker a bit.

Thanks @gwest_ca! 5-0720 is the deck I’ve got, there was a gouge through the tag and I couldn’t tell if it was a “1” or a “7”.

101849 is the part number I need, and @3QTR40 is right, they are pricey. But now I know exactly what I need, and thanks to @The Tool Crib, how to throw it all back together!
