My First WH Restoration

Recommended Posts

BCrea02370

Saved this from the scrap pile. Won't Steer, brake didn't stop, clutch wouldn't release, leaked gas, tires went flat, won't always start, seat was broken, rims frozen to axles, etc. Now she runs just fine and cut lawn on Saturday unfortunately it is just to big for my yard and it breaks my heart to sell it considering amount of time I invested in it. Does anyone know what this might be worth?  The four pictures are what I started with and what it looks like now.

Nice looking machine, nobody really does 'restorations' on them.. though they aren't bad at all by today's standards.. which makes it nice to see someone who cared enough to save it.
I mean no offense, but they aren't exactly worth much. Outside of wearing a WH tag, these aren't much more than a riding mower. Around here a mint original usually brings no more than 300-400, with a bag on the rear to boot.

Looking at CL people want stupid money for old WH.  That said I have a 1989 312-8 and love it.  Have used it to pull stumps (with pulley assist), control the fall of trees when cut, move a shed, help a neighbor level high points on his yard with the plow, move a trailer with a ton of top soil.  The only thing I do not do with it is cut the grass, even though I have a deck.  My father originally bought it in to plow the driveway and cut his two acre lawn.  I inherited from my parents after he passed and could not be happier with it.  At first I thought it was a toy, but will not part with it.  I figure if I tried to sell it and got $500 dollars I would be doing really well.
