Ritter 38 #1 Posted June 17, 2019 Always loved these Wheel Horse tractors, fond memories, especially of my grandfather. Picked this up today and can’t wait to refurbish it. Feedback welcome. 3
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,314 #3 Posted June 17, 2019 Nice score. I've never had any experience with the newer models, my 81 C125 is the newest tractor I own. While I do love the old models, I have been looking for a nice 300 or 400 series with a mower deck and hydro to do my mowing around the place.
ericj 1,578 #4 Posted June 17, 2019 be mined full of the eaton 700 trans in the 312-A tractors. Run it a while and get it good and warm, then try to either pull something that won't move or try to but up against a tree carefully and see if the trans slips or spin the tires. The eaton 700 trans is almost impossible to push it the trans is good and the tractor stops unexpectedly in the yard or other inconvenient spot. The only way to move the tractor is to put the motion control lever all the way forward, and that don't always work. Nice looking tractor, was that redone or just that nice of an original ? good luck eric j
ZXT 2,401 #5 Posted June 17, 2019 I have to say... That tractor doesn't look like it's in need of refurbishing! If anything, it might need a seat, the deck painted and the overspray cleaned off of the tires. What model did your grandfather? I assume it was something older than the 312. Nice looking tractor! oliver2-44 9,678 #8 Posted June 17, 2019 I have a 312-8, you will love that as a mower tractor. Looks like some rubbing compound and a wax job plus a deck paint will take care of the cosmetic refurbishment. PS Vinylguy in our vendor section makes wheelhorse decals for those baby moon hubcaps.
