Firebug 267 #1 Posted June 14, 2019 I just found this on my 310-8. Just curious how the tube goes into the transmission. Is the plastic tube threaded in or pressed in. Snapped off pretty flush with the casting. Any thoughts how to get it out without dumping a bunch of junk in there and where would I source a replacement
1995 520H+96+97 937 #3 Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) Screwed in. Take a chisel that will slide into the broken piece, tap with a hammer, and turn it out with a wrench on the chisel. Some on e bay or new at Partstree, or Toro. Edited June 14, 2019 by 1995 520H+96+
The Tuul Crib 7,337 #4 Posted June 14, 2019 Aren’t these made from plastic?
Firebug 267 #5 Posted June 14, 2019 Yes it is plastic. But it’s pretty protected on there. Doesn’t look like it’s available on parts tree so eBay it is. Does that need a thread seal tape around it or is it ok to just screw it in without
The Tuul Crib 7,337 #6 Posted June 14, 2019 Teflon tape would help ease it in . I wouldn’t over tighten it tho. Maybe hand tight then another half or so turn with a wrench.
Firebug 267 #7 Posted June 14, 2019 That would be something I do, snap the new one off
daveoman1966 3,762 #8 Posted June 14, 2019 How long is that filler tube? I have several here to suit.... $15 shipped to you in USA.
Firebug 267 #9 Posted June 14, 2019 I will measure it, that’s the same price as eBay but at least I’ll know what I’m getting
daveoman1966 3,762 #10 Posted June 15, 2019 The filler tube I have is 8" long...including threads. One of the 4 corners of the 'square' is broken off, but the tube isn't cracked and the threads are all good to go.
Firebug 267 #11 Posted June 15, 2019 That looks like it, mine is 7 1/4 including the flats but not the threads. They are hard to measure stuck inside the transmission
daveoman1966 3,762 #12 Posted June 15, 2019 I'm thinkin' the tube I have will suit your needs. The one I have is just 7" long to the SQUARE of the tube.... just above the threads.
