How do I adjust a 48" deck

Recommended Posts

Cee245

After teaching my son to mow last week (he did very good) I was walking behind him and noticed the outer rear deck wheels squealing.

Then I got thinking, when I have the deck all the way up, they still touch the ground.

Is this normal?  It looks like if I tighten the lock nut on the 2nd picture that it may fix this issue?

Can anyone show a picture of their setting on it so I have a ballpark guess as to where it should be?

That rod and nut are for adjusting the front to rear tilt of the deck.  You adjust to get the front of the deck slightly lower than the back so you only cut the grass once. With the blade aligned front to rear the front tip should be about 1/8" lower than the back.

Like Paul stated above, that rod is used to adjust the front to rear angle of the deck while it is down in the mowing position.       To increase height of the deck when it is up in the transport position,  you must shorten the rod the connects the rock shaft to the deck lift lever.   The best way (only way) to access this rod is to remove the panel that contains the ignition switch.

Is there a procedure in a manual that I must have missed on how to do the leveling of the deck?
