Yes I said WHEELHORSE COLLECTORS CLUB!

Recommended Posts

I myself was once a proud, card carrying member of the WHCC. I am sure that I am not the only one to be dissappointed with the appearent "dissolusion" of the club over the past year. Yes, I know there is the show, which is the "pinnicle event" for the WHCC. But, is it really a "club" if there is no web site, no newsletters, etc.??

In recent months this subject seems to be Taboo among the officers of the WHCC. There has been brief mention here and there of the Site being up and running "soon". I have also heard rumors that the newsletters were going to be reduced to two per year. But, any time I myself or others have attempted to make contact with the club - there has been no response.

I understand that things happen in personal lives that may prevent the upkeep of the WHCC. I also understand that there may be some things that have happened in the backround causing the club to virtually dissappear. What I don't understand is if the officers of the club can not handle the perspective duties of the club (for any reason), than why hasn't any of them asked for help or passed the duties onto someone else?

I hope that I am not coming across as being bitter and I am not attacking anyone in any way- I just think that this was a great thing that these guys put together and hate to see it go to the wayside.

I know that many Redsquare members are either current, or past members of the WHCC. It only makes sense that we pull the talents and knowladge of these great tractors  together and merge Redsquare and the WHCC. I really do think this could be a great thing. I think that the accumulated tech forums, pics, etc. is a great basis for a quarterly newsletter. There could also be an auction type section added to the site that would enable the many dealers, sellers and buyers to get away from the continually rising Ebay fees. I also think that if you pay to be in a club, you should get your money's worth. If you are promised four newsletters and a decal you should get that every year you pay (even if the newsletters are a little late). It would also be kinda cool if the decal resembeled the F.O.P stickers and said "WHCC member 2009, 2010", etc.

I am rather new to this hobby and know there are others that have been at this a lot longer than I. In this short time I have met a lot of kind people willing to lend a helping hand. I am confused why the officers of the WHCC have not sought out the help of others to keep it going, and continually improve it rather than let it just "dissappear". :omg:

I don't know of them ever turning anyone down. These guys that run this club do an outstanding job. They are human and bleed (Wheelhorse) red -they too can get overwhelmed just like the rest of us.

The $10 covers the newsletters, decal and rental fee and insurance for the show. Like Buzz said in another post - you just can't get a show as good as this for ten bucks......

Scott, this same idea has been brought up a few times in the past, and to put it shortly, it's not going to happen.

The collector's club and this forum are two completely different things. The WHCC is a legal corporation, with it's own Board of Directors and Federal and State filing requirements. This forum is a free service hosted by Forumer.com set up by whchris for people who like to talk about Wheel Horses to do so online in a format different from the Yahoo groups that many people dislike.

While many of the members (and even probably an officer or two) of the WHCC hang out here, there are also members here who want nothing to do with the club. As this is a free forum, we cannot "merge' it into a dues paying club. The hosting company would frown on that action, and our forum would disappear. It has also been discussed about turning Red Square into a paid forum, but that idea has been dismissed as a majority of our membership are folks who have just found their first Wheel Horse and are just looking for some help and information. These folks are not necessarily "collectors", but need help just the same. The paying membership is the WHCC's thing, and if they are so inclined, when they get their website back to fully operational, they could choose to pay for forum software and hosting, similar to other brands like Simplicity ( http://www.simpletractors.com) Cub Cadet ( http://www.ihcubcadet.com and http://www.ihregistry.com) and John Deere ( http://www.weekendfreedommachines.org)

We (the admins and mods) do not have that vision for the future of this forum.

Thanks for everyone's continued participation and support.

Hi Scott,

Let's see if I can answer some of your concerns.

I have tried and worked to get the web site and news letter going the way it should till I'm blue in the face ...... but some times getting the people who work for you to move is almost imposible. The web address was stolen and we have not been able to get it back so a new dot org address was created and hpefully will get better.

To talk to me a Board Memember of the Wheel Horse Collectors Club here is my phone number and it best to call after 6:00pm EST.

(804) 261-4914

Sorry I do not have a answering machine hooked to my phone.

The Wheel Horse Collectors Club has not and will not dissapeared and YES I would love some help with the club!

My principal jobs for the Wheel Horse Collectors Club are promoting the Annual Wheel Horse Show, making the dash plaques, finding raffle prizes, giving the tech session, idea man and making sure the folks who come to the show have a good time! Am I complaining about what I have to do .... NO WAY BECAUSE I LOVE WORKING WITH THE WHEEL HORSES AND THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THEM !!!!

Bill, If everyone only knew the time and effort you put into making the WHCC show such a great sucess. Without the club this show would not even happen. I know how hard it is to get people to help with different things, but I for one, greatly appreciate your efforts in making the club and the show such a great success. :omg: Thanks again for all you've done.

Buzz

I got my Wheel Horse Collectors Club newsletter today and while short it was welcome. I see that Tim Shue will be stepping down as Vice President and won't be coming to the show this year and it's probable that his wife Melody will be stepping down as the person in charge of membership and the newsletter. For those who have been complaining about the newsletter, or the lack thereof, this is your big chance. Volunteer to take it over. Get someone else to run the membership part, but get the newsletter sent out four times a year like it was. Now it can't be sent over the internet because a surprising number of members aren't on line and have no interest in computers, it would actually have to be printed and mailed. You probably wouldn't even have to attend the show, you could volunteer by calling one of the officers of the club. I'm not being sarcastic, someone out there could do a great job with it, all they have to do is volunteer. Any takers?

Got my WHCC newletter today also....got an email for a WH guy a couple hundred miles away and he said his wife wanted to know about the show...so I mailed it to Dave Barber in southern Missouri.....now in my book, any time the wiffeeeee drops a hint like that, I jump on it like a fly on stink....

Even tho the newletter was short, the 10 bucks has been well spent even if it does not attract another new member.....I would have never gone to two of the shows if I had never sent the first 10 bucks in.....heck, just to see Jerry and his YELLAR COW was worth more than that....not to mention Billy's condemed "tent"and how about that RS line up in the parade.....(thanks for the ride, E)....Buzz, ya will have to eat my share of the "roadkill special" this year!!! :omg:
