Pressure washer info

So I’m pressure washing parts of the house and my real old Craftsman which has been tired for awhile now is really starting to show signs it’s want to croak. Got me thinking maybe it’s time for an upgrade.

Would really want one with wheels so it’s easier to move around, a bit more grunt in both Horsepower and PSI would be nice as well. I don’t need anything super strong, just more than I have now. Mine is a 3.5hp Briggs and claims to put out 2000 PSI.

Whats a good brand? I do like Honda motors on power equipment so if a unit had a Honda that would be a plus ( and more $$$). And I know the pump is a consideration but how do I know what’s good and what’s not so good?

  Thoughts guys??

The one I bought a while back was fairly inexpensive. Excell but it did have a Honda engine. After the cheap pump gave out in a couple of years, I just bought a good quality pump online and it wasn't that much money. Bolted right on and away I went. Take this with a grain of salt as it's probably been about 5 or 6 years.

Mine's a generac 3100. Used mainly for cleaning decks. Around $300-$350. Would not go below 3000psi....

I bought a Troybilt 2500 psi in 07.It has a Honda engine and I used it just today. It stays in a shed during the winter so I shoot pump saver into the pump at the start of winter. That Honda starts every time.I lived without a pressure washer for years and would not be without one again!

I bought this one three years ago....3000 psi and works nice!  Not sure if you guys have “Northern “ stores in your neck of the woods...but thought it was worth mentioning...😎

Like my Husqvarna works very well, can tame it down or peel paint with it.  Has a brigs engine, the only difference I think between honda and brigs is honda is quieter I think.. Probably mostly personal choice like the difference between ford and chevy.

I have Lowe's Troy bilt special with a Honda engine after I killed an old electric one.

The other thing to consider is mounting one off the tractor PTO and attach it to the front tach a matic. Could get a much stronger, better oiled filled pump for the same price and one less engine to maintain.

Pressure Washer are like garden tractors, all kind of things to think about. Gas or electric, PSI, GPM, what you use it for, and how often. My brother had a pressure business for 10 years, learned a lot about them, the make and type of pump is as important as the engine. Are you wanting a gas or an electric, they make some really good electric 3000 psi and down now. If you just want a good 3200 psi with a honda the Simpson MSH3125 is one of the best. Amazon : around 400.00, I guess price would be a factor also. Also you want one that drops the engine to idle when you release the trigger, saves on the pump and engine wear.
