MikeyC 0 #1 Posted June 4, 2019 Good afternoon y'all! I'm a newbie and just bought a 68 Raider 12 and i have a couple of questions after combing through everything i know of so far. First tho, I am not sure how or why I wasn't bitten by the WH bug, but I've been obsessing over these for several months now and finally have my hands on one. It's in great shape and runs well- just needs some tweaking and servicing. I have a mower deck for it (which I think is the right one, but no serial # on it as far as i can tell) but it looks like the only way to attach it to the middle of the tractor is the transport chain as there isn't the lift lever pin or a lever extension long enough to get to the deck levelor (sp?). So, do it just have the wrong deck? Everything else attaches well including the pully on the front , its just that one peice. I haven't been able to get a part number for it even after combing through the manuals and parts lists. I believe its a 36", and it a RD, but can confirm exact size. It's got the deck bumpers on it , and from what i understand , the previous to most recent owner did use it to mow. I'm just stumped as to the name and part # of the lever i think im missing. Of course, it could be that I'm missing something entirely. Anyway, here are a couple shots of what im talking about. Thanks so much !
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #2 Posted June 4, 2019 Welcome to the forum. Here is some info on the tractor and it is in no particular order so look through them all https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?&q="1968 raider 12"&type=downloads_file&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy The mower deck looks like a newer model. Do you have a pair of idler pulleys mounted at the front of the tractor to carry the mower drive belt? Garry
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #4 Posted June 4, 2019 Your deck looks like a later design than the tractor. This is how they are lifted. Click on the picture. Item 14 and 27 have a pin on the end that fits into the slot in the mower frame in your photo. The chain lifts the T-bar. I do not know if your frame is drilled to accept the bar. Stepney 2,325 #5 Posted June 5, 2019 I'm in a similar position. You will find, through some reading, that there was a special lift rod made to fit a newer deck to your machine. You can also rig up a chain. Near your tranny mount, there are often 2 unused holes. The 'cross bar' for the newer model lift seems to fit into these, atleast they do on mine. There's no real perfect way of doing it. I bought a '68 WH charger partially because it had a 90's deck fitted to it .. and I was really hoping to find this obscure lift rid, but no dice, they were just using a chain and shackle. mmmmmdonuts 274 #6 Posted June 5, 2019 For my '68 Raider I opted to use an aftermarket kit to convert it to a tach-o-matic system. That would fix your problem with the newer mower deck. I would put an add in the wanted section.

There was of course the front mule hitch add on .. but I'm not familiar with anything else.
mmmmmdonuts 274 #8 Posted June 6, 2019 Yes the front mule hitch add on is what I am talking about. There was also a middle hitch add on two which basically are two steel plates on either side of the tractor that mount through the 2nd and 3rd hole back I believe. It latches similar to the front mule drive with a push button type connector. This holds the deck arm that goes across the mower. There are pictures in this link to show you what it looks like. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/10258-1971-raider-10-mower-deck/ To attach the tach-a-matic to the front (for the pulley's) I believe it was 3 holes I had to drill and in our to get the spacing right I needed to use nuts in between the tach-a-matic and the frame. I will try and get more pictures if you would like this weekend.
