mhlmeader 689 #1 Posted June 4, 2019 Hi folks, picked this up yesterday. It runs pretty good. Previous owner said he had bought it from someone that painted it all up to display at a dealership. I dunno, sounds legit. I will spare you the gory heartbreaking details of how when unloading it I managed to dent and scratch some paint off the front of the grill, cream paint chips were already there, I did a number on the red, which is currently being concealed by color matching chip repair tape. Anyway, back to the tractor, I can't find a serial number tags, precise owner said he thinks it's a 74, he gave me a bunch of manuals that were passed on to him, only had a 75, and 76. Any clues? Also, the tranny fluid is very low...one sticker says use transmission fluid, and another says use motor oil. I leaked a little out, definetly looks like motor oil. Goes with that? The manuals I have state to use motor oil. Any help would be appreciated, and just wanted to share, thanks. 5 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

ZXT 2,396 #7 Posted June 4, 2019 (edited) Looks like an extremely nice tractor! As far as the transmission oil goes, use whatever is in it. Trans fluid will be red, oil will be brown/black. It uses 10-30 if motor oil, and a 51410 Wix oil filter. Probably not a bad idea to change it if you don't think its been changed in a while. You'll see pretty quickly from looking at my threads that Trina and I have kind of a thing for alternative colored tractors. All the engines we painted are Navajo white. Looks like the dash is similar to what I did on my cinnamon horse. As stated above I would have left the grill the color of the rest of the tractor but all the other off white looks really cool. I'm with @ZXT on the, use it and clean it. We don't have any tractor here that we don't use, at least for towing things around the yard.
