I think I need to put up more raking before winter to get the camper inside! Young... and while my kids enjoy it Hopefully they will enjoy them when they are older. Keep the tradition going. Pullstart 62,834 #28 Posted June 1, 2020 Almost a year this thing has been sitting. Well... I think it will look good with a double wide belt guard sticking out the side of the hood!
Pullstart 62,834 #29 Posted June 1, 2020 The 552 frame looks good, feels fairly tight! The fan gear support is cracked on one side, I bet I have a spare!

Pullstart 62,834 #33 Posted June 1, 2020 Though I likely won’t reuse this plate on the 1055, someone did a decent job building it! It bolts to the rear tins, then the fender is sandwiched to the seat. 1
Pullstart 62,834 #35 Posted June 1, 2020 It’s moved over. I see the coil will need to move a bit to clear the hood.
Pullstart 62,834 #36 Posted June 1, 2020 The muffler had to come off to clear the hood. Bummer. I’ll have to give it a stack I guess. The air cleaner is too deep to clear the hood too. 2
Pullstart 62,834 #37 Posted June 1, 2020 The belt guard from the 1055 I believe was modified for the K-161. It works best. 2
Pullstart 62,834 #38 Posted June 1, 2020 I need to swap transmissions too. The 552 trans is stuck and won’t roll.
Pullstart 62,834 #39 Posted June 1, 2020 552 trans is out. Not surprisingly, the frame is cracked but has been plated well from the inside. This’ll be a perfect time to replace the broken steering block too.
Pullstart 62,834 #40 Posted June 1, 2020 Steering fixed up, dash upright supports are in place. 3

Pullstart 62,834 #44 Posted June 1, 2020 I accidentally put the transmission pulley on backwards. No big deal, but now the set screw I just tightened seems stripped out!
Pullstart 62,834 #45 Posted June 1, 2020 I was able to find a hex key just slightly bigger and pound it in. Yay! 2
Pullstart 62,834 #46 Posted June 1, 2020 Hubs are snugged up, seat is on along with the belt guard.
Pullstart 62,834 #47 Posted June 1, 2020 A guy’s gotta kinda hand it to whoever took the time to make this head tin! 4

Pullstart 62,834 #49 Posted June 1, 2020 I hooked some juice to the coil and pulled the engine over with a piece of twine wrapped around the pulley. I have spark! The s/g doesn’t spin too fast, so I took it apart for inspection. It looked good and spins well, so I cleaned up the armature and put it back together. Still doesn’t spin too good.
