Unususal Sickle Bar Mower Setup What it it?

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

Trying to figure out what this is for?   Found it in Florida and it looks like it might be a Wheel Horse Sickle Mower but very different arrangements on it.

Has a chain drive on the sickle mechanism unlike any Wheel Horse sickle I have seen.

I have seen Wheelhorse tractors with a FRONT sickle bar... believe them to be OEM product but not sure that yours in this pic is OEM>

:text-yeahthat:          The frame mounting is unlike the roundhood ones.

Maybe modified to use on a later style tractor?

Derek England says this is a 701 Wheel Horse Front Sickle Bar Mower!

So looks like I will put this on my 701 and bring to the Big Show in Arendtville, PA in June and the Portage, Wisconsin "Garden Tractor Daze"  in July.

Nice grab @Lane Ranger Hope you get it mounted in time to bring it to Portage!

If you look at your 1961 and/or 1962 price list, I think it is listed on there with the model number listed above. I've never found a separate parts listing for it, and the only place I've seen it in any literature is in the early 1962 Get a Horse brochure. Its a small flip brochure that when folded up is only a 1/4 page size.

Here's the page that shows it.
