Rounded Vs Square Deck Rollers

Was looking at parts for my 36" rotary deck, and noticed Toro offers squared rollers and rounded rollers for the same part number (94-1599 / 5240). These are the Anti-Scalp rollers.

 

Was one design more effective than the other? I see both are still available.

 

My deck currently has the squared ones, not sure if it's worth it to swap to the rounded ones or not.

5240 no longer available has been replaced by 94-1599 rounded rollers

If you look up the 94-1599 on Ebay, you can still find plenty of the squared off ones.

 

Just wasnt sure if they went to the rounded style for a reason, and if so, why.
