76c12091520h 3,623 #102 Posted December 14, 2020 Cleaned and inspected the entire wiring harness, re-taped everything with high temp 3M automotive electrical tape. Installed the harness and added extra hold downs and wire ties where possible, just trying to tidy up a mess of wires. Added one of Glens' fuse holder covers. 76c12091520h 3,623 #111 Posted January 31, 2021 Have the engine torn down ( as far as it's gonna get ) compression was great, cylinders still have the crosshatch in them , so it's just getting mostly a good cleaning, detailing, fresh gaskets, carb rebuild, etc. Tins are getting blasted and I did both heads while I was at it. 2 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Reelhorsenut 4 #115 Posted February 16, 2021 Looking darn good! Leaking intake manifolds are a known issue. Several threads here about resealing them. If you don't want to split the intake apart, at minimum it's a good idea to replace the rivets with nuts and bolts, one at a time. Loctite them. Then scrape off the visible rtv and go along the seam with new high temp rtv. Eliminates 99% of any future vacuum leaks. Splitting and resealing gets you to 100%. I had that same notch where my front exhaust heat shield was rubbing the intake manifold...never would have noticed it had it not been for you guys! Horse Newbie 7,075 #119 Posted February 16, 2021 (edited) I opted to not split my intake into 2 halves...but I'm sure I got a good seal with the RTV that I used to seal the seam after a good cleaning...the RTV cured almost as hard as metal, and was I was not able to dig my fingernail into it. Don't look at it at all like you are raining on my parade...you are just asking a question, trying to be helpful. To be honest, I may have described what I used incorrectly. I'll have to try to find the package( if it hasn't been tossed) and see if it was/is suitable for the application in which I used it. I do believe whatever I used, I read the package, and it was compatible with exposure to gasoline. What does it look like to you if you can tell by the pic I shared ?
