Pic 1 9 #1 Posted May 14, 2019 (edited) Hi Guys, New to the site. Servicing a 5xi machine. Wanted to ask the horse experts what your best online source for OEM filters was and if anyone has had good success with aftermarket filters like Stens? Have any found any larger capacity filters they've had success with, without causing interference with attachments, belts, etc.? Am I correct that original part# 79-5270, is still the current part# and has not since been superseded? I'very read some are using 80/90W rather than 10w-30 motor oil? And some flush the housing with diesel fuel. Any adverse effects, like axle or other case seals drying out/compromised causing leaks later on with this method? Any alternative to using diesel? This unit's not been serviced in quite some time. Doesn't have trouble with hills, but not getting full drive out of it to match the throttle. Probably more too it than just a fluid change (linkage, etc.) but this is where I'm starting out. Sorry, that was a boatload. Interested to hear numerous opinions. Thanks in advance guy's! Achto 27,789 #3 Posted May 14, 2019 I like to use the OEM filters. Being a hydro transmission, I don't think that 80w 90 is the correct oil. I would definitely confirm what oil to use.

Follow it and you will be OK.
Pic 1 9 #5 Posted May 15, 2019 Thanks for you input guys. Yes. I believe I had noted some info of the incorrect drive type which refered to switching from motor oil to 80/90w. This only my second tractor. First hydro after retiring an old Gilson after 25? years. (Still going strong). Ordered a Toro brand hydro filter, and picked up some motor oil. I'm assuming there's no need to flush this drive type? ( Will probably drain/refill run/drive it and redo drain/fill to be safe.
