Horsing around 0 #1 Posted April 4, 2009 Hi all i have a 800A that runs and drives good but when the hydro gets warm it will loose all it's power and can't even move itself. It looks like tranney fluid in the pump. What should be in the hydro? oil or ATF Mike
Sparky-(Admin) 21,444 #2 Posted April 4, 2009 If its oil stay with oil and if its ATF stay with ATF. Does the tranny have a filter? Has the filter been changed with the fluid? I would start by giving the tranny a fresh filter if it has one and fresh fluid. Also while yer under it make sure it isnt all covered with grass clipping or leaves and stuff that would act as insulation and cause the tranny to run hotter than it should. Mike....... Rideawaysenior 25 #4 Posted April 6, 2009 Those were the Eaton 700 hydro pumps coupled to the Peerless transaxle. According to the fluid charts, ATF if the juice of choice. This is the same pump that is used on the early 312-A, 516-H and 518-H. It's an easy removal to pull the pump, I wonder if you need to remove the pump and just dump it.?
