Bang for the buck in shows question

Blackhood Bill

Looking to go to some shows this year. I 'm looking for shows that are really good, close by. I know of a few close by but have never been to any. With having 3 :wh: (1 running, 1 in completed tear down, 1 waiting to be tore down), wanting to make sure the wife enjoys going to the shows also. What are some of your suggestions from the great people here! Mentone, Warsaw, Rochester, Portland, Evansville, (Indiana). are some that I know of. Will for sure be going to Portland. The boss is asking for dates of when I wanted to take some vacation days so he can plan for someone to be at work in my place. I just don't want to run around go to shows a have the misses complain if it not going to be good for her also. Then when I get there what are some requirements the shows have regarding riding your machine around. Any help to make this enjoyable for the misses would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to meeting the :rs:group. :text-thankyouyellow: in advance

Many of the tractor shows in our area will have flea markets / swap meets along with the show. This usually gives the women something to do if they're not interested in the tractors. Some shows will also have some night time entertainment like bands. Some shows in our area require you to show proof of liability if you wish to use your garden tractor as show transportation, so that is something that you might want to check into. My home owners ins. used to cover my liability, now it won't cover it once my tractors leave my property so I had to seek out another source.

Not sure how far you're willing to travel. Garden Tractor Daze in Portage Wi is featuring :wh: this year, there will be a bunch of RS members there. Would be a little over 5hr trip for you. This is a garden tractor only show that had a little over 900 tractors of all brands in attendance last year. There is a flea market at this show but it is more of a swap meet. Bret, the guy that runs the show also likes to open up his absolutely wonderful WWII museum for a tour on one of the nights.

I’m sure Ill catch heck for saying this  ...but I don’t bring my wife with me to tractor machinery shows. Her and I both know she’ll  quickly be bored and that will shorten my time at a show. Plus I’m not on the move all the time. I’m quite happy ( like this last Zagray Show with @wallfish & @SALTYWRIGHT ) just sitting in our spot watching the show attendees and machines roll by while shooting the breeze about anything that comes up.

Does anyone here know that Russ (saltywright) once put a diesel motor in a Corvette?? Those are the kind of cool stories you miss out on when you bring someone who is not gonna want to hang out at a tractor/machinery show.

Not saying we do everything seperate because that’s the farthest thing from the truth, but after almost 27 successful years of marriage my wife and I know when to hang out and when to not hang out

The ONLY engine show the wife goes to is the Bernardston MA show because they have a huge flea market side as well as the side with the engine show. She can spend all day over there trinket shopping and have fun while I play around on the tractor side. Took her to the big show ONCE and that was enough. All she wanted to do the whole time was leave and do something else because she has absolutely no interest. Time apart is just as important as time together

I've taken my wife to three different tractor shows, including twice to the 'big show' because it's always on her birthday.   Stayed at a nice bed and breakfast last time (even though it made me late for show) and took her out to a nice dinner, but she was completely bored by the tractors.   Fortunately, she found another bored wife to talk to, and just sat in the pavilion most of the day chatting.   We do a lot together, but at this point we agree that she has her 'girl get-togethers' and I have my tractor shows.  Some time apart makes for a better marriage when we are together.
