csvt99 173 #1 Posted May 7, 2019 I stopped by an original wheel horse dealer tonight to get a set of concrete/plastic weights that are 70# each. I passed on them because they were beat up, and he convinced me to buy these instead. He claims they are original wheel horse weights. Can anyone verify this? Any votes on which color I should paint them. They are going on my 314-8 for now with silver rims. 4
AMC RULES 37,130 #2 Posted May 7, 2019 They're for real...W-H weights. 2

csvt99 173 #4 Posted May 7, 2019 Awesome. He was planning to take them to the show next month, but I got to them first😁

squonk 41,037 #9 Posted May 7, 2019 Those weights were original to Cub Cadet too.
csvt99 173 #10 Posted May 8, 2019 I wire brushed them tonight. Next is power wash and the Rust-Oleum primer. Need to decide on color but I'm leaning red. Is it really necessary to wire wheel them or sand blast to bare metal? Here is what they will be riding on.
troutbum70 857 #11 Posted May 8, 2019 You have a beautiful older tractor I think it deserves good looking wheel weights. But only you can decide how much time you want to put into the weights.
csvt99 173 #12 Posted May 8, 2019 Here is what they look like after first round of wire brush. My coworker has an old blaster so I'm thinking I might give that a try unless you think it will be fine as is. I obviously don't have experience painting old cast iron...but it's fun to learn! troutbum70 857 #13 Posted May 8, 2019 You could probably get them a lot better by using a wire wheel on an side grinder, if you have one available.

csvt99 173 #19 Posted May 10, 2019 Red it is. Got the sandblaster. Just need to get it done and find paint that hopefully matches. I'll post pics eventually.

Toro still offers red paint in spray bombs, as well Rustoleum IH red and Regal red TSC Magic IH red are just a few.
Herder 2,354 #21 Posted May 11, 2019 Regal red is a close match.
csvt99 173 #22 Posted May 11, 2019 Well the sand blasting didn't work. It's a long story. But the wire cup did pretty good. Hopefully it holds up! Regal red is a little brighter than the new Toro red but it's close enough. 4
Sparky-(Admin) 21,311 #23 Posted May 11, 2019 They look great! Color choice is just a matter of personal preference. My tractor isn’t red so I went with black.
