ET160 29 #1 Posted May 6, 2019 The needle bearings in my B80 PTO clutch were noisy, so I packed the assembly with grease. Now it doesn't disengage fully, so I assume there is too much friction. I think I'm going to tear it all down to inspect. What should I relube with, gear oil?
rmaynard 15,428 #2 Posted May 6, 2019 Bearing should be cleaned, then repacked with no more than about a tablespoon of grease. Too much grease will come out on the clutch face and cause slipping. 1
rmaynard 15,428 #3 Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) Also, any good wheel bearing grease will be fine. Edited May 6, 2019 by rmaynard Spelling
WHX?? 48,788 #4 Posted May 6, 2019 I would also check the seal and replace if worn.
ET160 29 #5 Posted May 6, 2019 I checked again and found the outer bearing to be bad. I ordered a new one.
