PTO needle bearing lubrication

Recommended Posts

ET160

The needle bearings in my B80 PTO clutch were noisy, so I packed the assembly with grease.  Now it doesn't disengage fully, so I assume there is too much friction.

I think I'm going to tear it all down to inspect.  What should I relube with, gear oil?

Bearing should be cleaned, then repacked with no more than about a tablespoon of grease. Too much grease will come out on the clutch face and cause slipping.

Also, any good wheel bearing grease will be fine.

WHX??

I would also check the seal and replace if worn.

I checked again and found the outer bearing to be bad.  I ordered a new one.
