Ralph S 342 #1 Posted May 4, 2019 I broke something in the rear end of the 310-8 last week. A friend of mine donated a C-111 parts tractor to me and Bam ! I'm back in the game.

Ralph S 342 #6 Posted May 4, 2019 The C-111 was one year only but the rear end was used in a lot of models. It does have the 1-1/8" axles and the 310-8 had 1"
Ralph S 342 #7 Posted May 5, 2019 It was a worthwhile upgrade. I put all new seals in it with 2 quarts of oil and she opperater smooth. I'll be trying it out at The Big Knob pull next Saturday. Hopefully it'll hold up
JAinVA 4,619 #8 Posted May 5, 2019 (edited) Biggest difference besides the axle size is the number of pinion gears in the diff.4 as opposed to 8.What you have in it now is what you need for pulling. Edited May 5, 2019 by JAinVA 1

Ralph S 342 #11 Posted May 25, 2019 It pulled great ! I did spring a leak on the right side axle seal. Luckily I bought a few extras.

That leak might indicate the axle bearing is worn, allowing the torque to deform the seal. With it jacked up and the tire off check if you can push the hub side to side and up/down. Any movement more than a hair, indicates slop in the axle bearing. Take care of that 1-1/8" 8 pinion, there tough as nails when there maintained. Thanks for pulling with a Wheelhorse!
