Recommended Posts

I got my sons SK486 back together and found that the throttle cable is broke. Where is the best place to find a throttle cable for an WH Sk486 with a kohler K341 as? Thank you.

Tractor Supply has a universal kit that may work for you. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/arnold-universal-throttle-control-kit

The metal jacket on the cable screws into your throttle lever and the other end can be trimmed to the desired length and a "Z" bend made.

I haven't seen the Wheel Horse style throttle cable at Tractor Supply.  I have found that the best bet is ebay, and fairly reasonable with free shipping, if you're willing to wait 5-6 days for delivery.

when you get that cable , hang it up by the handle end , and lube it  with penetrating oil , till it drips out the other end, ensuring its ease of movement. next , if you can pick up a couple more of the cable clamps that screw on the engine cover , those will give you a very solid cable mount , ensuring its easy operation . lube it regularly , and enjoy it , pete

You use your old dash mounted throttle lever and insert the new cable into it. The spiral jacket will unscrew from the throttle lever mounting (may need to spread it slightly) and just screw the new one into it.
